What kind of malware is Combo?
Combo is a new variant from the Dharma ransomware family. This is malicious software designed to block access to all data by file encryption.
Combo adds the ".combo" extension, email address, and ID to each infected (encrypted) file. For example, "1.jpg" becomes "1.jpg.combo".
Updated variants of this ransomware use ".[bitpandacom@qq.com].combo" extension for encrypted files. This ransomware displays a ransom message in a pop-up window and the "FILES ENCRYPTED.txt" text file.
What is goalmedia?
Goalmedia websites (goalmedia[.]club, goalmedia[.]bar, and a couple of other pages) are very similar to nipwaghue[.]com, ntformetog[.]fun, allyimporta[.]fun, and many other websites. These pages are designed to promote other dubious pages and load deceptive content.
Therefore, it is strongly recommended not to trust them. It is important to mention that it is uncommon for such pages to be visited intentionally.
Typically, they get opened through questionable advertisements, websites, or by installed potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) that users download and install on browsers, computers unintentionally.
What is SearchWebAid?
SearchWebAid is an adware-type application with browser hijacker traits. It is designed to deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns and make modifications to browser settings - in order to promote (cause redirects to) fake search engines.
In addition, most adwares and browser hijackers spy on users' browsing activity and collect sensitive/personal data. It is highly likely that SearchWebAid has such data tracking abilities as well.
Since users typically download/install SearchWebAid unintentionally, it is categorized as a PUA (Potentially Unwanted Application). This app has been observed being distributed via fake Adobe Flash Player updates.
It is noteworthy that illegitimate software updaters/installers are also used to proliferate trojans, ransomware, cryptominers, and other malware.
What is Ultra Media Burner?
Ultra Media Burner is advertised as software designed to convert, burn, copy and rip DVD and Blue-Ray. However, the installer for Ultra Media Burner injects various potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), rogue extensions like adware, browser hijackers, and other unwanted applications.
It is not recommended to trust apps that are distributed together with rogue extensions, PUAs. It is noteworthy that most of those apps are distributed using deceptive methods. In other words, it is uncommon for them to be downloaded and installed on purpose.
If there are any unwanted apps already installed on a browser or the operating system, then they should be removed/uninstalled as soon as possible.
What is nipwaghue[.]com?
There are many websites like nipwaghue[.]com on the Internet. A couple of examples are n02[.]biz site, maximus-time[.]com, and enquiryofh[.]fun.
It is noteworthy that users do not visit them willingly. Usually, they open those pages accidentally, for example, by clicking deceptive advertisements or visiting other shady pages.
It is also common that browsers open untrustworthy pages by themselves when they have a potentially unwanted application (PUA) installed on them. Most users download and install PUAs unknowingly because those apps are distributed using deceptive techniques.
What is ntformetog[.]fun?
Ntformetog[.]fun is an untrustworthy website, which operates by presenting visitors with dubious material and/or redirecting them to different unreliable/malicious pages. Sites like ntformetog[.]fun, n02.biz, maximus-time.com, video-change.digital, and thousands of other untrustworthy webpages are usually accessed inadvertently.
Most users enter them through redirects caused by intrusive advertisements or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications).
This software can be installed onto systems without user consent. PUAs are designed to cause redirects, deliver intrusive advert campaigns, and gather browsing-related and vulnerable data.
What is Full Img?
Full Img is then name of a potentially unwanted application (PUA), a browser hijacker designed to promote the fxsmash.xyz address (fake search engine). Like most apps of this type, Full Img changes browser settings to promote the fxsmash.xyz address.
Another problem with browser hijackers is that they often are designed to collect information. It is worthwhile to mention that the main reason why apps like Full Img are called potentially unwanted is because most users download and install them unintentionally.
What is the allyimporta[.]fun website?
Allyimporta[.]fun is a rogue webpage designed to load dubious material and/or redirect visitors to untrustworthy/malicious sites. Users typically enter such websites unintentionally; most get redirected to them by intrusive advertisements or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications).
These apps can infiltrate systems and cause redirects, run intrusive advert campaigns, and collect browsing-related information. There are thousands of pages similar to allyimporta[.]fun on the Web; video-change.digital, captcharesolving-universe.com, and lib2.biz - are just a few examples.
What is besty-deals[.]com?
Sharing many similarities with maximus-time.com, ne01.biz, enquiryofh.fun, lib2.biz, and countless of others, besty-deals[.]com is an untrustworthy website. This page presents visitors with dubious content and/or redirects them to unreliable/malicious sites.
Users usually access such webpages inadvertently. Most get redirected to them by intrusive advertisements or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications).
This software does not require explicit permission to infiltrate systems; hence, users may be unaware of its presence. PUAs operate by causing redirects, delivering intrusive advert campaigns, and collecting browsing-related and other sensitive information.
What is Standard Bank Financial Consultancy (SBFC) email scam?
In most cases, phishing emails are designed to look like official, important or urgent letters from legitimate companies, organizations. Scammers send such emails to trick recipients into providing personal, sensitive information.
It is common that they try to obtain information such as credit card details (e.g., cardholder name, CVV code, credit card number), login credentials (e.g., usernames, email addresses, passwords), or other details. This phishing email is disguised as a notification from the Standard Bank Financial Consultancy, an Africa-oriented financial services organization.
