What is Offerz4U?
Offerz4U adware claims to save time and money by providing various coupons and notifying users of available discounts - "Offerz4U is a browser add-on that provides a better online shopping experience leading to higher user value by offering modifynative products, showing same or similar products from different stores with price modifynatives".
This might appear legitimate functionality, however, Offerz4U is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Offerz4U is identical to DealTop and often infiltrates systems without users’ permission. In addition, Offerz4U continually monitors Internet browsing activity and generates intrusive online advertisements.
Following infiltration, Offerz4U gathers various information relating to Internet browsing activity including (but not limited to) IP addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, and search queries entered into search engines.
It is highly probable that some of the collected data will be personally identifiable and shared with third party companies who can misuse information, thus, leading to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Offerz4U significantly diminishes the Internet browsing experience by displaying various intrusive advertisements.
All of these ads are displayed using a 'virtual layer', which conceals underlying content. Furthermore, some redirect to untrusted websites that may contain malicious content. Therefore, even accidental clicks can result in high-risk adware or malware infections. For these reasons, you should uninstall Offerz4U adware immediately.
There are hundreds of adware-type programs that offer identical functionality including TidyNetwork, Deal Top, and My Search Dock - these are just some examples from a long list. All adware falsely claims to provide valuable features, however, its real purpose is to generate revenue for developers.
Rather than providing any of the functionality promised, applications such as Offerz4U track Internet browsing activity, cause unwanted browser redirects, and deliver intrusive online advertisements.
How did Offerz4U install on my computer?
Offerz4U is proliferated using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling'. Research shows that developers conceal potentially unwanted programs within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings of the download/installation processes.
Therefore, users who rush these processes, and skip this section, often install dubious software such as Offerz4U inadvertently. Developers' revenue is dependent on the number of PUPs distributed and, therefore, they do not properly disclose installations.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent installation of adware-type programs, be cautious when downloading and installing software. Download your chosen applications from a trusted source (usually the official website). In addition, closely analyze each download/installation step and opt-out of all additionally-included programs listed for download or installation.
