CinePlus Ads

What is CinePlus?
Identical to Cinema Plus, Cinem Plus, and a number of other deceptive applications, CinePlus is an adware-type application claiming to enhance the Internet browsing experience by improving online video quality.
This functionality may appear legitimate and useful, however, this application is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP), since it infiltrates systems without users' consent, tracks Internet browsing activity, and delivers intrusive online advertisements.
This adware generates various types of advertisements including coupon, pop-up, banner, and price comparison ads. None originate from the visited sites and conceal underlying content, thus diminishing the Internet browsing experience. In addition, some might redirect to bogus websites containing infectious content.
Thus, clicking them can result in high-risk adware or malware infections. To display these ads, developers of CinePlus employ a virtual layer, which enables placement of third party graphical content on any visited website.
In addition, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since CinePlus collects various software and hardware information including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine geographic locations), websites visited, search queries, pages viewed, and other gathered data.
This information may seem insignificant, however, it might contain personally identifiable details that are later shared with third parties who can misuse it to generate revenue. Thus, having CinePlus installed on your system might lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall CinePlus immediately.
Adware-type applications such as CinePlus have similar characteristics. All adware claims to enhance Internet browsing by enabling various features, however, these false claims are merely attempts to give the impression of legitimacy.
In fact, adware-type apps are designed solely to generate advertisements and collect personal data - their purpose is to generate revenue for the developers and they provide no real value for users.
How did CinePlus install on my computer?
Developers distribute CinePlus via a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software/apps. Unaware that developers intentionally hide rogue applications within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings, users often rush the download and installation processes.
By skipping most of the steps, they inadvertently install PUPs such as CinePlus, thereby exposing their systems to risk of further infection.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
All software should be installed with caution. Pay close attention to each step to successfully perform a safe installation. Select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any concealed PUPs listed for installation and enable you to decline them.
