- "Awesome Shoppers helps you get live price comparison with the products you are viewing online. We cover hundreds of millions of products from dozens of online merchants. simply go to your favorite online store, search for your desired product and Awesome Shoppers will locate a better deal for you."
Some users believe that this app is legitimate and useful, and yet, Awesome Shopper is classed as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). After successfully infiltrating Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Awesome Shopper displays intrusive online advertisements, tracks Internet browsing activity, and collects various user/system information.
Awesome Shopper displays a number of intrusive online advertisement types including coupon, banner, pop-up, and comparison shopping ads. These advertisements are displayed using a virtual layer allowing placement of third party graphical content on visited websites.
The virtual layer overlays visited sites, and therefore the generated ads conceal underlying website content, thereby significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience. Furthermore, some ads may lead to rogue sites, and thus, clicking them can result in further computer infections.
Be aware that Awesome Shopper gathers various Internet browsing-related information including IP addresses, search queries, website URLs visited, pages viewed, and other types of collected data. These items may seem insignificant, however, the information might contain personally identifiable details.
The developers of Awesome Shopper later share the collected data with third parties, and therefore, the presence of this PUP on your system could lead to privacy issues. You are strongly advised to uninstall Awesome Shopper from your system immediately.
