DealShark Ads

What is DealShark?
DealShark is an advertising network employed by a wide variety of adware-type applications. These apps are distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', and therefore, they are categorized as potentially unwanted programs (PUP).
Bundling is stealth installation of third party applications together with the chosen software, thus, users commonly install adware-type apps inadvertently without their consent.
Adware-type applications are likely to cause intrusive online advertisements (for example, coupons) that usually redirect to potentially rogue websites - clicking these ads might cause further high-risk adware or malware infections.
In addition, information tracking is common to the behavior of adware. Most infections collect various Internet browsing-related information including, for example, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, websites visited, search queries, pages viewed, language settings, geographic locations, etc.
This gathered information may be personally identifiable, and therefore, having rogue potentially unwanted adware-type applications installed on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Browser plug-ins categorized as adware usually offer many varied features to supposedly improve the Internet browsing experience in some way.
For instance, Shop Smart, PriceMinus, Coupons Vault, and GoodDeals claim to save time and money while shopping online, however, they simply display intrusive ads and share collected data with third parties to generate revenue.
Research shows that most popular freeware download websites monetize their traffic and free services via small programs called 'download clients'. These offer installation of third party apps together with the chosen software.
According to the developers, the promoted apps are 'genuine and virus-free', however, careless download and installation of freeware often causes adware or malware infections. To prevent this situation, closely inspect the free software download procedure to ensure that no additional applications are included.
Also, downloaded software should be installed with the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any concealed apps listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you observe intrusive online advertisements while surfing the Internet, read the following instructions to eliminate this problem from your system.
