What is Price Defend?
Price Defend is a browser plug-in claiming to enhance the online shopping experience by enabling features such as coupons, comparison shopping, etc., and thereby saving money. This rogue application may appear legitimate and useful, however, Price Defend is classed as adware.
This association is made due to a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) used in Price Defend adware distribution.
Following installation of After Price Defend on Internet browsers, users experience intrusive advertisements (usually labelled 'powered by Price Defend') that may redirect them to bogus websites, and thus exposing computers to infection.
Be aware that the Price Defend application collects various Internet browsing-related information. For example: browser type and data (websites visited, pages viewed, etc.), content on visited websites, and so on.
This collected information may contain personally identifiable details, and therefore, the presence of Price Defend adware on your system can result in serious privacy issues or identity theft. Price Defend is regular adware with behavior similar or identical to many other applications.
Some examples are Dynamic Updater, Befrugal, and SpeedCheckApp. Adware-type apps provide no value to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of ads and sharing collected data with third parties. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to eliminate Price Defend from your system.
Most current adware is distributed via small programs called 'download clients' (also called 'download managers', 'installers', etc.) on popular freeware download websites. Download clients are developed to monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of third-party apps together with the chosen software.
Although these advertised applications are described as legitimate, they are often considered to be adware or malware. To avoid these infections, closely observe each step of the free software download procedure and ensure that no additional programs are installed.
Furthermore, downloaded applications should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options - this will reveal any bundled third-party apps listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. The following guidelines will help you to remove Price Defend adware from your system.
