What is BestPricesApp?
BestPricesApp claims to be a legitimate browser add-on providing various features such as coupons and comparison shopping that will supposedly save time and money by displaying special deals/discounts available on shopping websites.
Although this extension may seem legitimate and useful, BestPricesApp is categorized as adware, since it is distributed using a deceptive free software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of applications together with other software.
This rogue plug-in infiltrates Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox and then generates intrusive online advertisements (usually marked as 'Ads by BestPricesApp').
Furthermore, BestPricesApp tracks users' Internet browsing activity and collects data (websites visited and activity on those pages), which may be personally identifiable. This recorded information is used and shared with third parties. This behavior can lead to serious privacy issues.
BestPricesApp provides no significant value for the user - in fact, it diminishes browser performance, generates intrusive online ads, and collects personal data. Therefore, you are strongly advised to eliminate BestPricesApp from your Internet browsers.
Research shows that BestPricesApp is similar to other adware claiming to provide similar features. For example: LookingForTravels, UniDeals, Cheapster, CouponSignal, PennyBee, and many others. These extensions (including BestPricesApp) are developed to generate revenue by displaying ads and sharing collected data with third parties.
BestPricesApp is distributed via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as softonic.com, soft32.com, download.com, etc. Download clients are traffic and free services monetization tools, since they offer installation of additional programs together with the chosen free software.
Although these applications are said to be legitimate, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. To prevent installation of BestPricesApp, express caution when downloading free software, and never accept offers to install additional software.
Furthermore, all downloaded applications should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options - this will enable you to opt-out of bundled applications. The following removal instructions will help you to remove BestPricesApp from your Internet browsers.
