What is Round World?
Round World is a dubious application created by SuperWeb LLC. This browser plug-in claims to enhance the Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and other similar features. Although this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, be aware that Round World is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
This rogue extension installs on Internet browsers using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', which allows infiltration during installation of other software.
Once Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox are successfully infiltrated, various intrusive online advertisements (such as banner, search, pop-up, interstitial, transitional, etc.) are generated. Clicking these generated ads is likely to cause further high-risk adware or malware infections.
Furthermore, users' Internet browsing activity is continually tracked, since Round World records various software and hardware information including IP addresses (to determine users' geo-locations), website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, unique identifier numbers, and other data that may be personally identifiable.
It is highly probable that this information tracking will lead to serious privacy issues or identity theft. The developers of this rogue add-on have released several hundred potentially unwanted applications identical to Round World. Examples include LuckyTab, Webfuii, Shamanul, and RightSurf. None of these applications provide users with the features promised.
SuperWeb LLC intentionally releases identical applications under different names to avoid detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites - the purpose of these applications is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements and sharing collected information with third parties. Therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall Round World from your Internet browsers.
Research shows that most systems are infected during download of free software from freeware download websites such as download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, and many others.
Download programs (called 'installers', 'download managers', 'download clients', etc.) are used by these websites to monetize their free services by offering installation of additional programs together with the chosen free software.
Although developers state that these promoted applications are '100% legitimate and virus-free', reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. This situation can be avoided by closely following each step of the free software download procedure and removing all additional applications from the installation list.
Furthermore, if you are installing downloaded software, use the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options and never skip any installation' steps - this will reveal any concealed applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out.
If you have installed Round World, and you observe 'Ads by Round World', 'Round World Deals', and 'Powered by Round World' advertisements while surfing the Internet, read the removal guide provided and eliminate this adware from your system.
