What is AnySend?

The AnySend application claims to allow users to send files directly from their desktops free of charge. This functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, AnySend is considered to be a potentially unwanted program (PUP).

The developers of this PUP employ a 'bundling' marketing strategy (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) to install AnySend on Internet browsers without users' permission. Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, this application records various software and hardware information.

AnySend collects the following types of information: IP addresses, cookies, geo-location, hardware connected, computer platform, and in some situations, even credit card data. This behavior may result in serious privacy issues or identity theft.

Note that although this PUP does not generate intrusive online advertisements, it is similar to other rogue applications that use bundling as an installation method. Examples include Clean Browser, Object Browser, PrestoSavings, and Takesave among many others.

These applications are useless to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by sharing collected data with third parties and/or delivering intrusive online ads. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall AnySend from your system.

Today, most popular freeware download websites including download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com employ small programs called 'download managers' as traffic and free services monetization tools. Download managers offer installation of additional programs or browser extensions together with the chosen free software.

Although the developers claim that these advertised applications are '100% legitimate and virus-free', reckless download and installation often leads to adware or potentially unwanted application infections, including AnySend.

Installation of AnySend, or other similar adware, can be avoided by closely inspecting each step of the free software download process and never accepting installation of any additional programs offered.

AnySend adware removal:

Windows 11 users:

Right-click on the Start icon, select Apps and Features. In the opened window search for the application you want to uninstall, after locating it, click on the three vertical dots and select Uninstall.

Windows 10 users:

Right-click in the lower left corner of the screen, in the Quick Access Menu select Control Panel. In the opened window choose Programs and Features.

Windows 7 users:

Click Start (Windows Logo at the bottom left corner of your desktop), choose Control Panel. Locate Programs and click Uninstall a program.

macOS (OSX) users:

Optional method:

If you continue to have problems with removal of the anysend potentially unwanted program, reset your Google Chrome browser settings. Click the Chrome menu icon  (at the top right corner of Google Chrome) and select Settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Click the Advanced… link.

After scrolling to the bottom of the screen, click the Reset (Restore settings to their original defaults) button.

In the opened window, confirm that you wish to reset Google Chrome settings to default by clicking the Reset button.

Remove malicious plugins from Mozilla Firefox:

Click the Firefox menu (at the top right corner of the main window), select "Add-ons". Click "Extensions", in the opened window, remove "AnySend".

Optional method:

Computer users who have problems with anysend potentially unwanted program removal can reset their Mozilla Firefox settings.

Open Mozilla Firefox, at the top right corner of the main window, click the Firefox menu, in the opened menu, click Help.

Select Troubleshooting Information.

In the opened window, click the Refresh Firefox button.

Remove malicious extensions from Safari:

Make sure your Safari browser is active, click Safari menu, and select Preferences....
