Price-Hero Ads

What is Price-Hero?
Created by First Offerz Ltd, Price-Hero is a rogue application claiming to save time and money by displaying special deals/discounts available on shopping stores, and by enabling coupons and comparison shopping. While this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, be aware that Price-Hero is considered to be a potentially unwanted program (PUP) or adware.
The developers of this rogue browser extension employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) to install Price-Hero on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' consent.
Following successful infiltration, Price-Hero generates various intrusive online advertisements such as coupon, sponsored messages, photographs, graphics, deals, and other similar commercial features. It is highly probable that clicking advertisements generated by this rogue application will cause high-risk adware or malware infections
Additionally, this PUP continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity by collecting various software and hardware information including IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, and other details that may be personally identifiable. This behavior may lead to serious privacy issues or identity theft.
There are many applications similar to Price-Hero. Some examples are SaveZ, Shopping Fever, ShoppingOn, and Shopping Bag App.
None of these applications provide any real value for the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online ads and by sharing collected information with third parties. Therefore, you are strongly advised to eliminate Price-Hero from your system.
Research shows that most adware is distributed via small download programs ('installers', 'download clients', 'download managers', etc.) used by freeware download websites such as download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com and many others.
Download programs are used to monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of advertised (according to the developers, '100% legitimate and virus-free') applications or browser plug-ins together with the chosen free software.
Thus, careless download and installation of freeware together with the offered applications risks computer infection with adware or malware. This situation can be prevented by closely inspecting each step of the free software download process and clicking 'Decline' for any offers of additional software installation.
Furthermore, all software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal any hidden applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out.
If you have installed Price-Hero, and you observe intrusive online ads while surfing the Internet, follow the removal instructions provided to uninstall this rogue plug-in from your Internet browsers.
