Ads by Selection Tools

What is Selection Tools?
Selection Tools is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install on Internet browsers without users' consent.
Bundling is a way to stealthily distribute applications together with other software, and therefore, most users inadvertently install Selection Tools during download of free software from freeware download websites.
After successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Selection Tools generates intrusive online ads and tracks users' Internet browsing activity, and is thus, categorized as adware.
Today, most popular freeware download websites such as download.com, softonic.com, and soft32.com use small download programs (called 'installers', 'download managers', 'download clients', etc.) to monetize their free services and traffic by offering installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% legitimate and virus-free') browser add-ons together with the chosen free software.
Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections, including Selection Tools. Advertisements generated by this PUP include (but are not limited to) coupon, banner, pop-up, and in-text ads.
There is a high probability that clicking advertisements generated by this rogue application will lead to further high-risk adware or malware infections. In addition, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since this rogue application collects various software and hardware information that may be personally identifiable.
For example: Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine geographic locations), browser types and data (including website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries entered, cookies, and history), operating system types, installed plug-ins, and other similar information.
This behavior may result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft, and therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall Selection Tools from your system.
There are many rogue applications similar to Selection Tools. QuickLink, SelectionLinks, and GeniusBox are just some examples among many others. Neither Selection Tools, nor any of these other applications provide any significant value for the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online ads and sharing collected data with third parties.
To avoid installation of Selection Tools, or other similar adware, be attentive during download of free software and never accept installation of any additional software offered.
Furthermore, all programs downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Regular' - this will reveal any concealed applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.
If your computer is infected with Selection Tools, and you see intrusive online advertisements while surfing the Internet, follow the instructions below to eliminate this adware from your Internet browsers.
