What is AppSuper?

Created by SuperWeb LLC, AppSuper is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) claiming to improve the Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and other functions. While this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, be aware that AppSuper is considered to be adware.

This rogue browser extension employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional applications together with the chosen software) to install on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' permission.

Following successful infiltration on these browsers, AppSuper delivers numerous intrusive online advertisements such as banner, search, pop-up, interstitial, transitional, and full-page ads. It is highly probable that clicking advertisements generated by AppSuper will cause high-risk adware or malware infections.

AppSuper continually tracks users' internet browsing activity by recording various software and hardware information that is likely to be personally identifiable. The purpose of these applications is to generate revenue via intrusive online ads, enforcing unwanted browser redirects, and sharing collected information with third parties. Due to the dubious behavior of AppSuper, you are strongly advised to eliminate this PUP from your Internet browsers.

Close examination of AppSuper reveals that it is mostly distributed via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, and many others.

Download managers are used to monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% virus-free') browser extension together with the chosen free software. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections.

This situation can be prevented by closely observing each step of the free software download procedure and clicking 'Decline' if installation of any additional applications is offered.

Furthermore, all software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options, rather than 'Typical', 'Regular' or 'Quick' - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.

Windows 11 users:

Optional method:

Remove malicious plugins from Mozilla Firefox:

Click on the Firefox menu (at the top right corner of the main window), select "Add-ons". Click on "Extensions", in the opened window, remove "AppSuper".
