What is saveX?
SaveX is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) compatible with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. It promises to save time and money by displaying special deals/discounts and coupons when surfing online shopping stores such as eBay, Walmart, Amazon, etc.
While this functionality may seem useful and legitimate, be aware that saveX is categorized as a virus or malware. A deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' is employed by saveX to install on Internet browsers and is the main reason why these associations are made.
Bundling is a way to stealthily distribute applications together with other software, and therefore, most users infect their computers when downloading free software from freeware download websites.
Freeware download websites such as softonic.com, soft32.com, and download.com often use small download programs (called 'installers', 'download managers', 'download clients', etc.) to monetize their traffic and free services.
Note that these programs offer installation of advertised (according to the developers, '100% legitimate') browser extensions together with the chosen free software. Thus, careless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections, including saveX.
Following successful infiltration on Internet browsers, this PUP generates intrusive online advertisements and diminishes browser performance.
Furthermore, it tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording various software and hardware information that may be personally identifiable. This information gathering may lead to serious privacy issues or identity theft. As a result of this dubious behavior, you are strongly advised to uninstall saveX from your Internet browsers.
Research shows that there are many rogue browser extensions similar to saveX including, for example, CinemP+, Ciuvo, Discountlocator, and smartones among many others.
These PUPs (including saveX) provide no real value for the user and behave in a dubious manner by diminishing Internet browser performance, delivering ads, and tracking users' Internet browsing activity.
To avoid installation of rogue browser extensions such as saveX, examine each step of the free software download procedure and never accept installation of any additional programs offered.
Furthermore, software downloaded from the Internet usually conceals additional applications, and therefore, should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical'.
This will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed saveX, and observe intrusive online advertisements when surfing the Internet, read the following removal guide to uninstall this PUP from your Internet browsers.
