DiscountApp Ads

What is DiscountApp?
Developed by a company called 'Setup Wizard Ltd', DiscountApp is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) claiming to save time and money by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and displaying the latest special deals/discounts available within online stores.
While this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, be aware that DiscountApp is categorized as adware, since it employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) to install on Internet browsers without users' consent.
Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome, DiscountApp generates various intrusive online advertisements including coupon, banner, hyper-links, and full-page ads. There is a high probability that clicking these advertisements will cause high-risk adware or malware infections.
Furthermore, DiscountApp continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording various information that is likely to be personally identifiable.
For example: IP addresses (to determine users' geographic locations), unique identifier numbers, operating system and browser types, search queries entered, website URLs visited, pages viewed, and other details that are likely to be personally identifiable. DiscountApp is similar to other PUPs that use bundling as an installation method.
Examples include SecureSave, ShopHelper, SaveMass, and Coupon Chaser. These browser plug-ins are useless to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by displaying intrusive online ads. The behavior of these add-ons may lead to serious privacy issues or identity theft, and therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall DiscountApp from your Internet browsers.
DiscountApp is mostly distributed via small programs called 'download managers' on freeware download websites such as soft32.com, download.com, softonic.com, and many others.
Download managers are used by these websites as free service monetization tools since they offer installation of advertised (according to the developers, '100% virus-free') browser plug-ins together with the chosen free software. Thus, careless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections.
This situation can be prevented by closely inspecting each step of the free software download process and clicking 'Decline' if installation of any additional programs is offered.
Furthermore, all software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options, rather than 'Regular' or 'Quick' - this will reveal any hidden applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.
If you have already installed DiscountApp, and observe intrusive online advertisements while surfing the Internet, read the following removal guide to uninstall this adware from your Internet browsers.
