Coupon Scout Ads

What is Coupon Scout?
Coupon Scout (also known as GetDeal Coupon Widget or GetDeal Browser App) is a rogue browser extension claiming to save time and money by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and displaying special deals/discounts available within online stores.
While this functionality may seem useful and legitimate, be aware that Coupon Scout is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The developers of this rogue browser add-on employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to stealthily install on Internet browsers without users' permission.
Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome, Coupon Scout generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
These intrusive advertisements include banner, pop-up, interstitial, coupon, and in-text ads. There is a high probability that clicking advertisements generated by this PUP will lead to high-risk adware or malware infections. In addition, Coupon Scout monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording various information that may be personally identifiable.
For example: IP addresses, search terms entered into search queries (Bing, Google, etc.), website URLs visited, pages viewed, geo-locations, and other similar details. Information tracking is an unacceptable act and may result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft, and for this reason, you are strongly advised to uninstall Coupon Scout from your Internet browsers.
Coupon Scout is distributed via small programs called 'download managers' on freeware download websites. Download managers are used by these websites as a free service monetization tool since they offer installation of advertised (according to the developers, '100% legitimate') browser extensions together with the chosen free software.
Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware risks computer infection with adware or malware. Installation of Coupon Scout, or other similar adware (for example, Shopper Pro, SaferSurf, and SaveSense), can be prevented by closely inspecting each step of the free software download process and clicking 'Decline' if installation of any additional programs is offered.
In addition, If you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Regular' - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.
If you have already installed Coupon Scout adware, and observe intrusive online advertisements while surfing the Internet, read the following removal guide to eliminate this adware from your Internet browsers.
