What is Sudoku?
Sudoku is a potentially unwanted application presenting Internet users with an opportunity to play an addictive game called 'Sudoku'.
While this functionality may seem legitimate, users should be aware that Sudoku is categorized as adware since it employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to Install on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' consent.
After successful infiltration, Sudoku generates intrusive online advertisements as well as tracking users' Internet browsing activity.
These intrusive advertisements include pop-up, banner, text-link, interstitial, and in-text ads. There is a high probability that clicking these advertisements will cause high-risk adware or malware infections. Furthermore, Sudoku monitors users' Internet browsing activity by collecting various information, which may be personally identifiable.
For example: geographic locations, unique identifier numbers, operating systems, browser types, URLs visited, pages viewed, cookies, IP addresses, and other similar details. This behavior may lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft, and therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall Sudoku adware from your computer.
Sudoku is similar to other rogue applications claiming to enable users to play addictive games such as Jewel Quest, Jumpy Bird, Pac-Man, amongst many others. These applications are useless to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements.
Most users infect their computers with adware such as Sudoku during download of free software via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites (including download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com) Download managers are used to monetize these websites' free services by offering installation of promoted browser extensions together with the chosen free software.
Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. To prevent installation of Sudoku, or other potentially unwanted applications, be attentive when downloading free software and click 'Decline' when installation of any additional programs is offered.
In addition, if you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options - this will reveal any hidden applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.
