What is MeFeedia?
MeFeedia Toolbar is a browser hijacker, which infiltrates systems via free software downloads. After successful infiltration, this browser hijacker modifies the browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) homepage and default search engine settings by assigning them to mefeedia.com and yahoo.com.
Computer users commonly install this potentially unwanted application inadvertently without their consent together with free software downloaded from the Internet.
Today, most free software download websites employ 'download clients' to manage the process of freeware download. Download clients are used to monetize the free software download process by offering installation of advertised browser add-ons and toolbars.
Promoted browser extensions often cause unwanted ads and browser redirect issues. Some download clients employ deceptive methods to promote browser plug-ins, such as hiding the 'decline' button otherwise used to opt-out of installation of advertised browser add-ons.
At time of research, MeFeedia Toolbar used the Yahoo! Internet search engine to return results for the entered search queries. Note that while these search results appear legitimate, this website is able to change its search provider at any time, and thus, may redirect users to other malicious websites.
For these reasons, you are advised to eliminate this browser hijacker from your Internet browser/s.
MeFeedia Toolbar adds no significant value for Internet users and its promotion methods via deceptive freeware download clients deems it untrustworthy. MeFeedia browser redirect issues are directly related to installation of potentially unwanted applications.
Common sources of adware such as this are free software download websites. The MeFeedia.com website is similar to other sites, which use deceptive marketing methods to attract visitors including, for example, Znoo.net, searchsun.info, and Looksafesearch.com To avoid installation of browser hijackers, be attentive when downloading free software.
If your download is managed by a download client, opt-out of installation of promoted browser plugins by clicking the 'decline' button.
When installing freeware, choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will reveal intended installations of any bundled software. If your Internet browser/s redirect you to mefeedia.com, use this removal guide to eliminate MeFeedia Toolbar from your computer.
