What is VeeHD?
The VeeHD browser add-on promises to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by enabling access to high definition streams. This added functionality may seem useful, however, Internet users should be aware that the VeeHD plugin is categorized as a potentially unwanted application or adware.
This plugin, and promoted third party software associated with it, install on browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' consent and generates various intrusive ads, including, for example, in-text ads, interstitial ads, and pop-up advertisements.
Furthermore, the add-on tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, operating systems, browsers, software information, web page URLs visited, search queries entered, and other information. Internet users often install VeeHD inadvertently when downloading free software.
Today, most freeware download websites employ deceptive 'download clients' offering installation of additional browser extensions along with the chosen free program.
Therefore, reckless free software downloading can result in adware infections. The presence of VeeHD on your system can lead to high-risk malware infections and identity theft. For these reasons, you are advised to eliminate this adware from your computer.
VeeHD is similar to other potentially unwanted applications, which infiltrate Internet browsers via free software downloads. Examples include Rich Media Player, CostMin, and Media View.
To avoid installation of this adware, be attentive when downloading free software since most freeware download websites (including popular sites such as download.com and softonic.com) use download clients to monetize their free services. Download clients are small programs offering installation of additional browser plug-ins with the chosen free program.
When downloading free software, look for these offers and decline installation of any advertised browser plug-ins. Users who have already installed VeeHD should use this removal guide to eliminate this adware from their Internet browser/s.
