What is Gophoto?
The Gophoto.it browser add-on claims to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by enabling photo zooming on all major websites, such as Facebook and flickr. This plugin is created by a company called Cool Mirage Ltd and is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox.
While on initial inspection this browser extension may appear legitimate, it is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Gophoto.it installs on Internet browsers without users' consent using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling'.
After successful infiltration, this add-on generates intrusive ads and causes browser redirects to the search.gophoto.it website.
Moreover, this plugin tracks users' Internet browsing activity and can access all data on websites visited. Commonly, Internet users install the Gophoto.it add-on when downloading free software since, today, most freeware download websites use deceptive 'download clients' offering installation of advertised browser extensions together with the chosen free program.
Thus, reckless downloading can result in adware infections. This browser extension adds no significant value and its presence may lead to malware infections and privacy issues. For these reasons, you are advised to eliminate this potentially unwanted application from your Internet browser/s.
The Gophoto.it plugin is similar to other PUPs, which infiltrate users' computers through free software downloads and cause browser redirects. Examples include Inspsearch.com, Sweet-page.com, findwide.com, and Nationzoom.com To avoid installation of such adware, Internet users should express caution when downloading free software.
If your download is managed by a download client, opt-out of installation of promoted browser extensions by clicking the 'decline' button.
When installing downloaded programs, choose the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal installation of bundled potentially unwanted applications. Computer users who experience browser redirects to search.gophoto.it should use this removal guide to eliminate adware from their Internet browser/s.
