Go.Findrsearch.com Browser Hijacker
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Go.Findrsearch.com?
The Findr search toolbar is a browser extension developed by Mactel Labs Inc. It promises to enhance users' web-browsing experience by providing Internet search services and displaying quick links to social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. This toolbar is compatible with Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla FireFox.
Whilst this added functionality may seem useful, Findr toolbar is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP), since it installs on users' computers with free software and modifies Internet browser settings - changing the homepage and default search engine settings to go.findrsearch.com
Many Internet users complain that this toolbar was installed on their computers without their consent. Unwilling installation of the Findr search toolbar may occur when installing freeware and not paying close enough attention to the installation steps.
Today, many popular download websites (download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, etc.) use download clients offering installation of additional promoted programs together with the downloaded free software. These promoted programs are commonly browser add-ons or toolbars, which cause diminished browser performance, redirects, and privacy issues.
Whilst go.findrsearch.com does not proliferate malware, and is not related to viruses, using this website for daily Internet searches is not recommended. Moreover, users should not click the sponsored search results since they are managed by third-parties and may lead to serious security and privacy issues.
Go.findrsearch.com is promoted using the Findr search toolbar, the behavior of which, is similar to babylon toolbar, Delta search toolbar, and Mixi Dj toolbar.
Redirects to this website are related to reckless free software installation. To avoid such unwanted browser redirects, be attentive when installing free software downloaded from the Internet, ensuring that you choose the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical'.
This will allow you to opt-out of installation of additional browser add-ons and toolbars. If you feel that the Findr search toolbar was installed on your computer without your consent, use the removal guide provided to eliminate the go.findrsearch.com browser redirect.
