How to remove ExperienceSys adware and the adverts it displays
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on
What kind of application is ExperienceSys?
ExperienceSys is a rogue app that we discovered while investigating new submissions to the VirusTotal website. Our analysis of this application revealed that it is adware belonging to the AdLoad malware family.
ExperienceSys adware overview
Adware stands for advertising-supported software. It is designed to feed users with undesirable/deceptive ads. This third-party graphical content is displayed on various interfaces.
The advertisements predominantly promote online scams, unreliable/harmful software, and potential malware. Some of these ads can even be triggered (i.e., by being clicked) to perform downloads/installations without user permission.
Keep in mind that while legitimate products and services may be encountered through these adverts – they are unlikely to be endorsed in this fashion by any official parties. It is most probable that this promotion is undertaken by scammers who abuse the content's affiliate programs in order to obtain illegitimate commissions.
Advertising-supported software might not run intrusive advertisement campaigns if the browser/system is incompatible, specific websites are not visited, or other conditions are unsuitable. However, even if ExperienceSys does not display ads – its presence on a system remains a threat.
AdLoad applications commonly have browser hijacker traits, although the ExperienceSys app did not exhibit any such qualities during testing.
Data harvesting is standard for adware and may apply to ExperienceSys. Targeted information usually includes: visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, Internet cookies, usernames/passwords, personally identifiable details, credit card numbers, etc. The collected data can then be sold to third-parties or otherwise abused for profit.
In summary, advertising-supported software like ExperienceSys can cause system infections, serious privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
TradeAero, FeedWild, VentureConnect, and VirtualNano are just a few examples of adware that we have examined recently. Advertising-supported software typically appears legitimate and offers various useful functionalities. However, these features are usually fake and serve the purpose of bait to trick users into downloading/installing the software.
It must be mentioned that even if an application or a browser extension operates as indicated by its promotional material – that is not a guarantee of legitimacy or safety.
How did ExperienceSys install on my computer?
Adware can have "official" download webpages, and it is promoted on scam sites. Users primarily access such pages via redirects caused by misspelled URLs, websites using rogue advertising networks, spam browser notifications, intrusive ads, or installed adware (with browser force-opening capabilities).
Advertising-supported software can also be bundled with ordinary programs. The risk of inadvertently permitting bundled content access into the system is increased by downloading from untrustworthy sources (e.g., freeware and free file-hosting sites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc.) and by rushing through installation processes (e.g., ignoring terms, skipping steps, using "Easy/Quick" settings, etc.).
Intrusive adverts spread adware as well. Once clicked on, some of these advertisements can execute scripts to perform stealthy downloads/installations.
How to avoid installation of adware?
It is important to always research software before downloading or purchasing it. Furthermore, all downloads must be performed from official and verified channels. When installing, we recommend reading terms, studying possible options, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opting out of all additional apps, extensions, tools, and so on.
We also advise being careful while browsing since fake and malicious online content usually appears legitimate and harmless. For example, while intrusive ads may look innocuous – they redirect to unreliable/questionable websites (e.g., adult dating, pornography, gambling, etc.).
Should you keep encountering adverts and/or redirects of this kind, inspect the system and immediately remove all dubious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with ExperienceSys, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.

Will Combo Cleaner remove ExperienceSys adware?
Yes, Combo Cleaner is capable of scanning computers and eliminating installed adware-type apps. Note that manual removal (performed without the aid of security programs) might be ineffective.
