What kind of page is totalrecaptcha[.]top?
While investigating untrustworthy websites, our researchers discovered the totalrecaptcha[.]top rogue webpage. We found that it has two appearance variants (possibly more), which use deceptive content to trick visitors into allowing the page to deliver browser notification spam. Additionally, this site can redirect users to different (likely dubious/malicious) webpages.
Visitors to sites like totalrecaptcha[.]top usually access them through redirects caused by pages that use rogue advertising networks.
Totalrecaptcha[.]top overview
The content encountered on and through rogue webpages might vary depending on the visitor's IP address (geolocation). When we inspected the totalrecaptcha[.]top site, we found that it has two variants (potentially more). The goal of this page is to deceive users into enabling it to deliver browser notifications.
One of its versions does so by using fake CAPTCHA verification, i.e., displays an image of a robot instructing to – "CLICK ALLOW TO CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE NOT A ROBOT!".
When we pressed the button presented on this totalrecaptcha[.]top variant, we were redirected to a deceptive page running a scam similar to "AMAZON TRIAL", "Chrome Search Contest 2022", "Win A New iPhone 13", "Congratulations Dear Amazon Customer", and thousands of others.
The second version of this webpage displays a fake video player, below which are instructions to – "Press 'Allow' to watch the video". Users will permit totalrecaptcha[.]top to display browser notifications by clicking the "Allow" button.
Rogue websites use their notifications to advertise online scams, unreliable/dangerous software, and even malware. Therefore, via pages like totalrecaptcha[.]top – users can experience system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and identity theft.

Browser notification spam in general
We have inspected numerous rogue sites; dybdended[.]com, click-video*[.]com, yourtopleveldefence[.]site, securitypczone[.]site, and resiastawsix[.]xyz are merely some examples.
These webpages display browser notifications (advertisements) endorsing deceptive and malicious material. It must be mentioned that any legitimate content encountered through these ads is most likely promoted by scammers abusing its affiliate programs in order to obtain commissions fraudulently.
How did totalrecaptcha[.]top gain permission to deliver spam notifications?
Websites cannot deliver browser notifications without user permission. Hence, if you are receiving these ads from totalrecaptcha[.]top – it means that you have likely visited this webpage and permitted their delivery by clicking "Allow", "Allow Notifications", or an analogous option.
It is noteworthy that rogue sites commonly use clickbait to deceive visitors into enabling the notification delivery.
How to prevent deceptive sites from delivering spam notifications?
If you enter a suspicious website – do not permit it to display browser notifications. In other words, do not press "Allow", "Allow Notifications", or any similar options presented on such pages. Instead, we advise ignoring or denying notification requests – i.e., clicking "Block", "Block Notifications", etc.
Should your browser keep force-opening questionable webpages without prompt, it could be caused by adware installed onto it or the system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
