How to eliminate ConditionAnalysts adware and the ads it displays
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on
What is ConditionAnalysts?
ConditionAnalysts is a rogue app that our research team found while inspecting new submissions to VirusTotal. Our analysis of this piece of software revealed that it operates as adware and belongs to the AdLoad malware family.
ConditionAnalysts adware overview
Advertising-supported software (adware) is designed to enable the placement of advertisements on visited websites and/or other interfaces. These ads endorse various scams, untrustworthy/harmful sites and software, and even malware. Some intrusive adverts are capable of stealthily downloading/installing software - once clicked on.
It is noteworthy that any legitimate products encountered through these advertisements are unlikely to be promoted by their actual developers. Instead, this promotion is undertaken by scammers abusing the products' affiliate programs to acquire illegitimate commissions.
Adware may need certain conditions (e.g., compatible browser/system or user geolocation, visits to specific sites, etc.) to deliver intrusive ad campaigns. However, whether ConditionAnalysts displays adverts is irrelevant, as its presence on a system endangers device/user safety regardless.
Furthermore, ConditionAnalysts might have browser hijacker qualities since they are common for AdLoad adware - although we did not observe any during testing.
ConditionAnalysts likely collects private data as well. Advertising-supported software usually has data tracking abilities and uses them to gather browsing and search engine histories, usernames/passwords, personally identifiable details, credit card numbers, etc. The collected information is monetized through sale to third-parties (potentially, cyber criminals).
In summary, the presence of software like ConditionAnalysts on devices can lead to system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
We have analyzed thousands of adware samples; GenesisOdyssey, PixelUnlimited, ConnectionInteractive, CoralMajesty, CycleAfter - are just some of our latest finds. This software typically looks legitimate and offers "handy" features. However, these functions seldom work as promised, and in most cases - they are utterly nonoperational.
How did ConditionAnalysts install on my computer?
Adware can also be bundled (packed together) with ordinary programs. Download from untrustworthy channels (e.g., unofficial and freeware sites, P2P sharing networks, etc.) and rushed installations (e.g., used "Easy/Express" settings, etc.) increase the risk of inadvertently permitting bundled content into the device.
Additionally, intrusive advertisements are used to spread advertising-supported software. Once clicked on, some of these ads can execute scripts to make downloads/installations without user consent. Fake Adobe Flash Player updaters/installers are used in distribution as well.
Adware is also promoted on dubious download webpages and scam sites. Most users enter these pages via redirects caused by mistyped URLs, spam browser notifications, websites that use rogue advertising networks, intrusive adverts, or installed adware (with browser force-opening capabilities).
How to avoid installation of adware?
We strongly recommend researching software and downloading only from official and verified channels. Furthermore, installation processes must be treated with care, e.g., by reading terms, studying available options, using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings, and opting-out of all additions.
Another recommendation is to exercise caution when browsing since illegitimate and malicious content usually looks innocuous. For example, intrusive advertisements appear legitimate and harmless, yet they redirect to highly questionable websites (e.g., gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.).
Should you encounter these advertisements and/or redirects, inspect the device and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with ConditionAnalysts, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What harm can adware cause?
Adware can diminish the browsing experience and system performance. It is also considered to be a privacy threat, as this software typically has data tracking abilities. Furthermore, adware-delivered adverts endorse dangerous content that can cause serious problems (e.g., system infections, financial losses, etc.).
What does adware do?
Adware stands for advertising-supported software. It displays advertisements on visited websites and/or other interfaces. Additionally, some types can force-open webpages and gather sensitive data.
How do adware developers generate revenue?
Adware developers generate revenue primarily through affiliate programs by promoting various websites, software, products, services, etc.
Will Combo Cleaner remove ConditionAnalysts adware?
Yes, Combo Cleaner can scan computers and eliminate installed adware-type applications. Note that manual removal (unaided by security programs) might be ineffective. In some instances, even after the advertising-supported software has been (manually) removed - remnants (files) stay within the system. Furthermore, such components can continue running and causing problems. Hence, it is paramount to eliminate adware thoroughly.
