How to remove Little-Light adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What kind of application is Little-Light?
Little-Light is a program (a browser extension) we found while analyzing deceptive pages. It is advertised as an app that can display any page in dark mode. After downloading and installing the app, we discovered that it generates advertisements. Thus, we concluded that Little-Light is an advertising-supported application.
Little-Light in detail
Clicking on advertisements displayed by Little-Light can open untrustworthy websites. It is known that adware can show ads that promote various scams, download pages for shady apps, or even malicious sites. Also, those ads can be designed to run certain scripts to download or even install unwanted/potentially malicious software.
We also found that Little-Light can read and change data on all websites. Data accessed by this app may be misused for malicious purposes (e.g., sold to third parties). These are the two main reasons why Little-Light is not a trustworthy app (it should not be downloaded and installed).

Adware general
Advertising-supported applications display annoying/intrusive advertisements. A big part of adware is promoted as useful/legitimate software. In some cases, it can be used to promote fake search engines - it can hijack a web browser by changing its settings. Examples of different adware-type apps are Fast PDF Reader, BlockAll - Block Ads, and Movies Craver.
How did adware install on my computer?
We found a shady website claiming that a free extension might be required. It is one of the pages that download the Little-Light application. Adware is also distributed via installers for other software and shady advertisements.
Installers containing adware have "Advanced", "Custom", or other settings. Adware gets installed after completing the installation without making changes in the aforementioned settings (or unticking available checkboxes).
How to avoid installation of unwanted applications?
Download applications and files from trustworthy sources such as official pages and legitimate platforms. Avoid downloading them from shady websites, third-party downloaders, P2P networks, etc. Check downloaders and installers for optional downloads and installations.
Always deselect unwanted apps before downloading or installing programs. It is also advisable not to click on advertisements appearing on questionable websites or allow such pages to show notifications. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
