Removing instructions for the NetworkBeta adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on
What is NetworkBeta?
NetworkBeta is the name of a rogue application. After testing a sample, we have determined that it is an adware-type app belonging to the AdLoad malware family. While we have not observed NetworkBeta using browser hijacker abilities, our experience with AdLoad applications lets us presume that it may have them.
NetworkBeta adware overview
The behavior of adware-type applications depends on various factors, e.g., device specs, users' geolocations, specific websites visited, etc. Even if this software does not display advertisements on your system - it does not mean that its presence on it is innocuous.
On our test system, NetworkBeta delivered misleading and harmful adverts. Adware-displayed ads usually promote untrustworthy and malicious sites, unreliable/unwanted software, and even malware. Furthermore, some intrusive advertisements can download/install software (without user permission) - when clicked on.
NetworkBeta could have browser hijacker and data-tracking functionalities. To elaborate on the latter, adware typically gathers browsing data, personally identifiable details, usernames/passwords, credit card numbers, etc. Developers of this software aim to generate revenue by sharing/selling sensitive information to third-parties.
To summarize, apps like NetworkBeta can cause system infections, serious privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
We have researched thousands of adware samples; ProjectSource, InitiatorIntegrate, and PreviewInteractive are but a couple of examples. This software looks harmless and offers "handy" features, which are rarely operational. Hence, it is not only useless, but it also endangers device/user safety.
How did NetworkBeta install on my computer?
We have found NetworkBeta bundled with a fake Adobe Flash Player installer. The deceptive site that promoted the installation setup was accessed through another page that uses rogue advertising networks. It is important to mention that untrustworthy webpages can be entered variously, e.g., force-opened by installed harmful software, endorsed through spam browser notifications/ ads, etc.
Program bundling (packing installers with unwanted/malicious additions) is common in adware distribution. Download from questionable channels (e.g., unofficial and freeware websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc.) and rushed installation processes - increase the risk of inadvertently allowing bundled content into the system.
Intrusive advertisements are used to spread adware as well. Once clicked on, the ads can make stealthy downloads/installations.
How to avoid installation of adware?
The key to computer safety is caution. Therefore, our researchers recommend downloading only from official and verified sources. Approaching installation processes with care is crucial; hence, we advise to read terms, study possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out of all supplements.
It is noteworthy that dubious sites and intrusive ads typically look legitimate; however, they redirect to highly questionable websites (e.g., gambling, adult-dating, pornography, etc.).
If you experience these adverts/redirects, inspect your device and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with NetworkBeta, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What harm can adware cause?
Adware can decrease system performance and browsing quality. It is also a privacy threat due to the data tracking abilities this software usually possesses. What is more, adware-delivered advertisements are often deceptive/malicious and can cause severe issues.
What does adware do?
Advertising-supported software (adware) is designed to run intrusive advertisement campaigns. In other words, adware enables the placement of various ads on visited websites and/or different interfaces.
How do adware developers generate revenue?
Adware generates revenue by promoting sites, applications, products, services, etc. Most of the profit comes from affiliate programs, e.g., adware developers can earn commission from ad clicks, website visits, file downloads, product purchases, service subscriptions, or similar.
Will Combo Cleaner remove NetworkBeta adware?
Yes, Combo Cleaner is capable of scanning computers and eliminating all adware-type applications detected. However, it is worth noting that manual removal is ineffective in some cases. There are instances, when although the software itself is (manually) removed - various leftover files remain within the system. Furthermore, such components can continue running and causing issues. Therefore, it is crucial to eliminate adware and all its files thoroughly.
