How to eliminate the DeployService adware?
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is DeployService adware?
DeployService is the name of an application that has two purposes: to display advertisements and hijack web browsers. It hijacks browsers to promote a fake search engine. Most users download and install adware/browser hijackers inadvertently. For this reason, DeployService falls into the category of potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
DeployService adware in detail
DeployService displays annoying advertisements (pop-ups, banners, coupons, or other ads). Those ads could be designed to open websites encouraging users to download and install potentially malicious apps. Also, those ads could open pages asking to provide sensitive information like credit card details, passwords, social security numbers.
Additionally, DeployService replaces the default search engine, homepage, and new tab page with a fake search engine and prevents users from undoing these changes. Fake search engines cannot be trusted - they can generate misleading results (promote shady pages) or show results generated by other untrustworthy search engines.

Adware in general
Adware is a type of unwanted software that generates advertisements and can be used to promote fake search engines and collect various data. More adware examples are HdTrack, BoostSign, and LatestExtended. Most users install (and download) adware unintentionally.
How did DeployService install on my computer?
Adware is distributed through downloaders or installers for other programs as optional downloads or installations. They can be deselected in "Custom", "Manual", "Advanced", or other settings that those downloaders or installers have. Not all users know that.
Also, PUAs are distributed through fake installers (for example, a fake Adobe Flash Player installer) or advertisements. In the second case, users download or install PUAs by clicking on ads designed to execute specific scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Applications and files should be downloaded from official websites and via direct links. Other sources can be used to distribute unwanted, malicious software. Downloaders and installers with settings like "Custom", "Manual", "Advanced" should be checked for optional downloads or installations.
Advertisements that appear on dubious, questionable pages should not be clicked. Those ads can open more untrustworthy pages or cause unwanted downloads, installations. If your computer is already infected with DeployService, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
