How to remove applications force-opening the eveicanma.online website?

Also Known As: eveicanma.online pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is the eveicanma[.]online site?

Eveicanma[.]online is an untrustworthy website sharing many similarities with coxziptwo.com, my-live-videos-4u.com, news-robico.cc, and countless others. It is designed to load dubious content and/or redirect visitors to various (likely unreliable or malicious) webpages.

Users seldom access such sites intentionally; most get redirected to them by suspect pages, intrusive advertisements, or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). This software can infiltrate systems without user permission. PUAs are designed to cause redirects, run intrusive advert campaigns, and collect browsing data.

Eveicanma[.]online in detail

The behavior of untrustworthy pages like eveicanma[.]online - is determined by their visitors' geolocations. The websites learn this information by checking the visiting users' IP addresses. In other words, whether visitors get redirected elsewhere and/or presented with questionable material - depends on their geolocations.

These rogue webpages use clickbait or other deceptive content - to trick users into allowing their browser notifications. This also applies to eveicanma[.]online; it lures visitors into enabling its notifications with fake CAPTCHA verification. Should they be allowed - eveicanma[.]online will start delivering intrusive advertisement campaigns.

The delivered ads are more than just a minor annoyance, they also pose a threat to device/user safety. They promote various sale-based, untrustworthy, deceptive/scam, and even malicious sites. Furthermore, some intrusive advertisements can stealthily download/install software (e.g., PUAs) - once they are clicked on.

How do potentially unwanted applications operate?

Potentially unwanted applications can have different functionalities, which can be in varied combinations. For example, this software can force-open webpages and/or deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns. What is more, PUAs usually have data tracking abilities.

These apps can record browsing activity (visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, etc.) and collect vulnerable data inferred from it (IP addresses/ geolocations, personally identifiable details, etc.). The gathered data is then shared with and/or sold to third-parties, likewise intent on misusing it for financial gain.

To summarize, the presence of unwanted software on devices can lead to system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft. It is crucial to remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins - to ensure device integrity and user privacy.

Potentially unwanted applications in general

PUAs typically appear legitimate. Users are lured into download/installation with promises of "handy" functions, which are rarely operational. The sole purpose of unwanted apps is to generate profit for the developers. Therefore, instead of delivering on any promises, PUAs can cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns, and gather private data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs can be downloaded/installed together with other programs. This false marketing tactic of packing ordinary software with unwanted/malicious additions - is called "bundling". These supplements can be left unmentioned or hidden within the "Custom/Advanced" settings.

Hence, by rushing through download/installation processes (e.g., ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using the "Easy/Express" settings, etc.), users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into their devices - thereby endangering the systems with potential infections.

Intrusive advertisements are used to proliferate PUAs as well. When clicked on, the adverts can execute scripts to download/install these applications without user consent. Some PUAs may have "official" promotional sites from which they can be downloaded and/or purchased.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is recommended to research software before download/installation. Additionally, all downloads must be done from official and verified sources. Untrustworthy download channels, e.g., unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders - often offer bundled/deceptive content.

Download and installation processes must be treated with care; that entails - reading terms, studying available options, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings to opt-out from additional apps, tools, etc. Intrusive ads appear legitimate; however, they redirect to questionable sites (e.g., adult-dating, pornography, gambling, and so on).

Should users experience adverts and/or redirects of this type, they must inspect their devices and immediately remove all dubious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
