How to stop getting redirected to and from bengekoo.com website?

Also Known As: bengekoo.com pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is bengekoo[.]com?

The Internet is rife with untrustworthy websites, bengekoo[.]com is but one of them. Pyiera.comkpoila.comtopgirlsdating.com - are a couple examples of others. The bengekoo[.]com page operates by presenting visitors with dubious content and/or redirecting them to rogue/malicious sites.

Typically, users access such websites unintentionally. Most enter these pages via redirects caused by intrusive advertisements or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). This software does not require explicit permission to infiltrate systems; hence, users may be unaware of its presence.

PUAs are designed to cause redirects, deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns, and gather browsing-related information.

bengekoo[.]com pop-up redirects

Exactly how bengekoo[.]com operates is determined by its visitors' geolocations. The webpage learns this data by inferring it from users' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. In other words, whether visitors get redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with questionable material - depends on their geolocations.

Additionally, sites of this kind frequently use deceptive tactics (e.g., clickbait, fake CAPTCHA verification, etc.) to trick users into allowing their browser notifications. This is true of the bengekoo[.]com website as well.

It instructs to "Click the Allow button to subscribe to the push notifications and continue watching", thereby implying that they must be enabled for users to resume watching online content. Should the browser notifications be allowed, bengekoo[.]com will begin running intrusive advertisement campaigns.

The delivered ads diminish browsing quality, and they also endanger device and user safety. Once clicked on, intrusive adverts redirect to unreliable/malicious webpages, and some can stealthily download/install software (e.g., PUAs).

Unwanted applications can have different heinous abilities, and these functions can be in varied combinations. For example, PUAs can force-open dangerous websites and/or deliver intrusive advert campaigns. What is more, these apps usually have data tracking functionalities.

They record browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather sensitive information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations, and personally identifiable details). PUA developers monetize the collected data by sharing it with and/or selling it to third-parties (potentially, cyber criminals).

In summary, the presence of unwanted software can lead to system infections, serious privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft. To protect device integrity and user privacy, all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be eliminated immediately upon detection.

PUAs appear legitimate and innocuous. They also tend to offer a broad range of "useful" and "advantageous" features. However, the advertised functions are rarely operational. In fact, this applies to nearly all PUAs.

The only aim of unwanted apps is to generate revenue for the developers; hence, functionality and user safety are irrelevant. Instead of delivering on any promises, PUAs can force-open sites, run intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collect private information.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are distributed via downloaders/installers of other software. This deceptive marketing method of packing regular programs with unwanted or malicious additions - is termed "bundling".

By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g., ignoring terms, skipping steps, etc.) - users risk inadvertently allowing bundled content into their devices.

Intrusive advertisements are also used to spread PUAs. Once clicked on, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without user consent. Some PUAs have "official" download pages as well.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is recommended to research software before download/installation and/or purchase. All downloads have to be performed from official and verified sources.

Untrustworthy download channels, e.g., unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders - often offer hazardous and/or bundled content.

When downloading/installing, it is advised to read terms, explore possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out from additional apps, tools, features, etc.

Intrusive adverts appear ordinary and harmless; however, they redirect to various questionable sites (e.g., adult-dating, pornography, gambling, and so forth).

Should users experience ads and/or redirects of this type, they must inspect their devices and immediately remove all dubious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
