How to stop browsers from opening bestletherservice.me

Also Known As: Ads by bestletherservice.me
Damage level: Medium

What is bestletherservice[.]me?

bestletherservice[.]me is an untrusted website that is often promoted through other websites of this kind, dubious advertisements, and potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).

Users do not often visit websites such as bestletherservice[.]me or download/install PUAs intentionally. Furthermore, PUAs can gather browsing-related (and other) information and generate unwanted advertisements.

bestletherservice[.]me pop-up redirects

Typically, pages such as bestletherservice[.]me display dubious content or promote (open) other websites of this kind. Whether bestletherservice[.]me displays content or opens other dubious web pages depends on the geolocations of its visitors.

bestletherservice[.]me might promote websites used to trick people into downloading unwanted, potentially unwanted software (e.g., adware, browser hijackers). Note also that bestletherservice[.]me shows a fake CAPTCHA test to trick visitors into clicking the "Allow" button. I.e., bestletherservice[.]me uses a 'clickbait' technique to deceive visitors into allowing it to show its notifications.

You are strongly advised not to allow bestletherservice[.]me or other untrusted pages to show notifications. If allowed, these can regularly display notifications with links to other potentially malicious sites containing deceptive ads.

If a browser regularly opens bestletherservice[.]me automatically, it is likely that a PUA is installed on it. Commonly, apps of this type promote dubious websites, serve unwanted, deceptive advertisements, and collect data.

Some examples of ads that PUAs display are pop-ups, banners, and coupons. Usually, these ads are used to advertise other PUAs or dubious websites. In any case, do not click these ads.

Examples of browsing-related details that PUAs collect are geolocations, IP addresses, entered search queries, and addresses of visited websites. Some PUAs are capable of reading and collecting personal data. Developers use the data for marketing purposes or even sell it to third parties (potentially cyber criminals).

Users with apps of this type installed on their browsers or computers could become victims of identity theft, have problems with browsing safety, online privacy or other issues.

Note that PUAs are often advertised as useful, legitimate applications, however, most are designed only to help the developers to generate revenue by deploying various ads, collecting data, and promoting bogus websites. Therefore remove all PUAs from browsers and operating systems immediately.

How did adware install on my computer?

People often download and install unwanted apps inadvertently via deceptive advertisements - they click ads that cause unwanted downloads/installations by executing certain scripts.

Unwanted downloads and installations also occur during download/installation of other programs. I.e., when PUAs are included into the set-ups as 'extra offers'. This PUA distribution method of PUAs is called "bundling".

Typically, offers to download and install these additional apps can be declined via "Custom", "Advanced" or other settings, or by unticking certain checkboxes within the set-ups. When users download and install programs without making these checks and changes, they often allow PUAs to infiltrate.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

You are advised to download files and programs from official websites and via direct download links. Other tools and sources such as third party downloaders and installers, unofficial pages, and Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., eMule, torrent clients) should not be used to download or install software.

Check all "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings (or available checkboxes) for offers to download and/or install unwanted apps. Do not click ads on dubious websites, since they can be designed to open bogus web pages or cause unwanted downloads and installations.

Remove any unwanted, suspicious extensions, plug-ins and add-ons installed on the browser, and software of this kind from the operating system.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
