How to remove itabsolan.com site's ads and stop redirects to it?

Also Known As: itabsolan.com pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is itabsolan[.]com?

The Internet is full of untrustworthy and unreliable websites, itabsolan[.]com is but one of them. Visitors to this page are presented with dubious material and/or redirected to other rogue and possibly malicious sites.

Typically, itabsolan[.]com and webpages akin to it (e.g., withoughtc.top, uspetenti.top, settings-chrome.com, etc.) - are accessed through redirects caused by intrusive ads or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). This software does not require permission to infiltrate systems; hence, users may be unaware of their presence.

PUAs are designed to force-open websites, run intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collect private data.

itabsolan[.]com pop-up redirects

Its visitors' geolocations determine the behavior of itabsolan[.]com. The webpage learns this information by checking their IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. In other words, whether visitors get redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with questionable material - depends on their geolocations.

Additionally, most rogue sites use deceptive tactics to trick users into enabling their browser notifications. This is the case with the itabsolan[.]com website as well. Should the notifications be allowed, the site will start delivering intrusive advert campaigns. The delivered ads are more than just a nuisance; they pose a threat to device/user safety.

Upon being clicked, intrusive advertisements redirect to dangerous pages and some can stealthily download/install software (e.g., PUAs). PUAs can have unmentioned, heinous functionalities. These functions can also be in different combinations. For example, these apps can cause redirects and/or run intrusive ad campaigns.

Furthermore, most PUAs have data tracking abilities. They monitor browsing activity (browsing and search engine histories) and collect sensitive information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations, and even personally identifiable details). The gathered data is then shared with and/or sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals).

To summarize, unwanted software can lead to system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and identity theft. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

PUAs usually appear ordinary and harmless. Users are lured into download/installation with offers of "useful" features. However, the promised functionalities are seldom operational. Functionality and user safety are irrelevant, as the only goal of unwanted applications is to generate profit for the developers.

PUAs operate by force-opening untrustworthy and malicious websites, delivering intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collecting private data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are distributed via download/installation setups of other programs. This deceptive marketing technique of packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions - is termed "bundling". By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g., by skipping steps and sections, etc.) - users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into their devices.

Intrusive advertisements are used to spread PUAs as well. Once clicked on, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without user consent. PUAs may also have "official" promotional sites from which they can be downloaded.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is advised to research software products prior to download/installation and/or purchase. Additionally, it is just as important to only download from official and verified sources. Since dubious download channels (e.g., unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders) - often offer harmful and/or bundled content.

When downloading/installing, it is recommended to read terms, study all available options, use the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings and opt-out from additional apps, tools, functions, etc. Intrusive adverts appear ordinary and innocuous; however, they redirect to various unreliable and questionable webpages (e.g., gambling, adult-dating, pornography, and many others).

Should users encounter ads and/or redirects of this type, they must inspect their devices and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
