How to remove the Private Deep application
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Private Deep?
Typically, apps that are classified as a browser hijackers change browser settings without users' permission (they assign them to the address of a fake search engine). Private Deep promotes keysearchs.com in this way and also collects browsing history.
Users often download and install browser hijackers unintentionally and, therefore, Private Deep is also categorized as a potentially unwanted application (PUA).
Browser hijackers often collect IP addresses, entered search queries, addresses of visited web pages, geolocations, and other browsing data. In some cases, they gather personal, sensitive details. The information could be monetized by selling it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or misused for other purposes.
Therefore, apps of this type can be threat to browsing safety and online privacy, and users could have their identities stolen.
Usually, browser hijackers change the default search engine, homepage, and new tab to the address of a fake search engine. In fact, Private Deep does not always change the aforementioned settings - it opens keysearchs.com only when users enter search queries into the URL bar.
Depending on users' geolocations, keysearchs.com provides results generated by Google or Bing - it redirects to google.com or bing.com (via my-search.com and search-checker.com).
keysearchs.com can be removed from browser settings only when Private Deep (and other apps that promote this site) is no longer installed on the browser or operating system.

To summarize, browser hijackers do not improve the browsing experience or include any useful features, even when they are advertised by the developers as useful, legitimate apps. These PUAs are useless and can cause serious issues.
More examples of browser hijackers are Streaming plus, All mypage, and Search Lovely.
How did Private Deep install on my computer?
PUAs are often downloaded/installed together with other products. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".
By rushing through download/installation of software (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using "Quick/Express" settings, etc.) many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into their devices. Intrusive advertisements proliferate PUAs as well. When clicked, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without users' permission.
Some PUAs have "official" download web pages from which they can be downloaded.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Download software and files from official websites and via direct links. It is not safe to use torrent clients, eMule (or other Peer-to-Peer networks), third party downloaders, unofficial websites or other sources of this kind.
Avoid third party installers. Check "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings, and decline offers to download or install unwanted software. Do not click ads that are displayed on dubious websites, since they can open other untrusted websites or even cause unwanted downloads and installations.
Remove any unwanted, suspicious applications (extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins) that are installed on the browser. The same should be applied to programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system.
Regularly scan your computer with reputable antivirus or anti-spyware software and keep this software up to date.
If your computer is already infected with Private Deep, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
