How to remove unwanted apps that promote fast2captcha.com and similar sites
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is fast2captcha[.]com?
fast2captcha[.]com is similar to myniceposts[.]com, fastsolvecaptcha[.]com, kersatur[.]online, and many other web pages. Note that users do not often visit these pages intentionally - they are opened by installed potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), through other bogus web pages, or via dubious advertisements.
When visited, fast2captcha[.]com and similar pages load dubious content or open about two or three other untrusted pages.
These sites also use 'clickbait' techniques to trick visitors into clicking the "Allow" button, which allows them to show their notifications - fast2captcha[.]com states that visitors must click the button to prove that they are not robots. These websites should never be allowed to show notifications, since they can contain links to other dubious pages, bogus ads, etc.
As mentioned, fast2captcha[.]com and similar sites are often promoted via potentially unwanted applications. These apps collect browsing data such as IP addresses, entered search queries, addresses of visited websites, geolocations, and even private, sensitive information. The data could be sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or monetized in other ways.
PUAs also generate coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and other ads. If clicked, these open dubious websites or cause unwanted download/installation of PUAs.

Malware Removal (Windows) | To eliminate possible malware infections, scan your computer with legitimate antivirus software. Our security researchers recommend using Combo Cleaner. |
Do not trust fast2captcha[.]com, similar pages, or pages that they promote. Ensure that you do not have any PUAs installed on your browser or computer. Note that PUAs are often advertised as legitimate and useful, however, they have no real value and can cause serious problems. Typically, users download and install PUAs inadvertently.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs are distributed via download/installation set-ups of other products. This deceptive marketing tactic of packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".
Rushing download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and settings, etc.) increases the risk of inadvertently allowing bundled content into the system.
Some PUAs have "official" download sites. Intrusive advertisements proliferate these applications as well. Once clicked, they can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' consent.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised not to use Peer-to-Peer networks (such as eMule, torrent clients, etc.), unofficial websites, third party downloaders, installers, etc. to download or install software or files. Use official pages and direct links.
Check download/installation set-ups for settings such as "Advanced", "Manual, or "Custom" (or include certain checkboxes) and decline offers to download or install unwanted apps before completing the process.
Additionally, do not trust or click advertisements that are displayed on dubious web pages - they can open other rogue sites or cause unwanted downloads and installations.
Remove any suspicious or unknown extensions, add-ons and plug-ins installed on the browser. The same applies to software of this kind that is installed on the operating system.
If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
