How to stop redirects to and from atinterboa.space

Also Known As: atinterboa.space pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is the atinterboa[.]space website?

atinterboa[.]space is an untrustworthy website designed to present visitors with dubious content and/or to redirect them to other bogus and possibly malicious web pages. There are thousands of similar sites on the web, including tutupdate29.comrchesasider.toptecontrad.top, and psalrausoa.com to name just a few.

Most users access these web pages via redirects caused by intrusive ads or by Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already installed on their devices. This software does not need express user permission to be infiltrated into systems. PUAs operate by causing redirects, running intrusive advertisement campaigns and gathering browsing-related data.

atinterboa[.]space pop-up redirects

Once accessed, atinterboa[.]space first checks visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses to learn their geolocations. This information is crucial to determining the website's further course of action. Therefore, whether visitors are redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with dubious material depends on their geolocations.

Additionally, this page uses browser notifications and attempts to trick users into allowing them. The site instructs visitors to "Please tap the Allow button to continue", thereby implying that, to access the web page's content, the notifications must be enabled. Should they be allowed, atinterboa[.]space starts running intrusive ad campaigns. The delivered ads are more than just a nuisance. When clicked, intrusive ads can redirect to untrusted/malicious websites and some can even stealthily download/install software.

PUAs are a prime example of software infiltrated into systems in this fashion. These unwanted apps can have varied functionality and these functions can be in different combinations. They can force-open dangerous sites and deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns. Furthermore, most PUAs have data tracking capabilities. They can record browsing activity (visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, etc.) and collect sensitive information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). The gathered data usually contains personally identifiable information. Furthermore, PUA developers monetize this information by sharing it with and/or selling it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals).

In summary, the presence of unwanted software on devices can result in system infections, serious privacy issues, financial loss and even identity theft. To ensure device integrity and user privacy, all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be eliminated immediately upon detection.

PUAs typically seem legitimate and harmless. Users are enticed into download/installation and purchase with offers of "useful" functionality, however, the advertised features are seldom operational. The sole purpose of PUAs is to generate revenue for the developers. Regular users receive no real value and can experience serious problems.

Rather than delivering any real value, unwanted apps force-open untrusted and malicious websites, run intrusive ad campaigns and collect private data.

How did adware install on my computer?

Sometimes, users inadvertently download and install unwanted apps via deceptive advertisements - they click ads that cause unwanted download/installations by executing certain scripts.

Unwanted downloads and installations also occur during download/installation of other programs. I.e., when PUAs are included into the set-ups as 'extra offers'. This PUA distribution method of PUAs is called "bundling".

Typically, offers to download and install these additional apps can be declined via "Custom", "Advanced" or other settings, or by unticking certain checkboxes within the set-ups. When users download and install programs without making these checks and changes, they often allow PUAs to infiltrate.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

You are advised to research all software before download/installation. Use only official and verified download channels. Unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks (BitTorrent, Gnutella, eMule), and other third party downloaders commonly offer harmful and bundled content, and are therefore untrusted and should be avoided.

When downloading/installing, read the terms, study all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features, and so on. Intrusive advertisements typically seem legitimate, however, they can redirect to dubious and malicious sites (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, and many others).

If you encounter ads or redirects of this kind, inspect the system and remove all dubious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
