How to stop redirects to and from jioer.pro
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is the jioer[.]pro site?
jioer[.]pro is a rogue website and just one of thousands of identical and similar pages on the web. Some other examples are mybestnewz.com, mypushz.com, and beforeigntools.club. Visitors to jioer[.]pro are presented with dubious information and/or are redirected to other untrusted and possibly malicious sites.
Few users access these websites intentionally - most are redirected to them by intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already installed onto their devices. This software does not need explicit users consent to infiltrate systems. PUAs cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns and collect browsing-related data.
How jioer[.]pro operates is determined by visitors' geolocations. It learns this information from users' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. To elaborate, whether visitors are redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with dubious material, depends on their geolocations.
Furthermore, this website uses deceptive tactics to trick users into enabling browser notifications - jioer[.]pro asks to "Press Allow to confirm / I'm not a robot / Press Allow to verify, that you are not a robot", however, this is not Captcha verification and should visitors follow the instructions, they will allow jioer[.]pro to run intrusive ad campaigns.
As well as being an annoyance, the delivered ads also pose a threat to device/user safety. When clicked, intrusive advertisements redirect to dubious/malicious web pages and some can even execute scripts to stealthily download/install rogue software (e.g. PUAs).
These unwanted apps can have various undisclosed capabilities and these features can be in varied combinations. PUAs can force-open harmful sites and/or run intrusive ad campaigns.
Furthermore, most PUAs can track data. They monitor browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and collect sensitive information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). This vulnerable data typically contains personally identifiable information.
PUA developers monetize this information by sharing it with and/or selling it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals). In summary, the presence of unwanted software on devices can result in system infections, serious privacy issues, financial loss and even identity theft.
To ensure device integrity and user safety, all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be removed immediately upon detection.

Symptoms | Seeing advertisements not originating from the sites you are browsing. Intrusive pop-up ads. Decreased Internet browsing speed. |
Distribution Methods | Deceptive pop-up ads, potentially unwanted applications (adware). |
Damage | Decreased computer performance, browser tracking - privacy issues, possible additional malware infections. |
Malware Removal (Windows) | To eliminate possible malware infections, scan your computer with legitimate antivirus software. Our security researchers recommend using Combo Cleaner. |
PUAs usual appear legitimate and innocuous, and users are often lured into download/installation with offers of various "useful" functionality, however, the advertised features are rarely operational. The only purpose of this unwanted software is to generate profit for the developers.
Rather than delivering any real value, PUAs can force-open untrusted and malicious web pages, run intrusive advertisement campaigns and collect private information.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs are often downloaded/installed together with other products. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".
By rushing through download/installation (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using "Quick/Express" settings, etc.), many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into their devices.
Intrusive advertisements proliferate PUAs as well. When clicked, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without users' permission. Some PUAs have "official" download web pages.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Download software and files from official websites and via direct links. It is not safe to use torrent clients, eMule (or other Peer-to-Peer networks), third party downloaders, unofficial websites or other sources of this kind. Avoid third party installers. Check "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings, and decline offers to download or install unwanted software.
Do not click ads that are displayed on dubious websites, since they can open other untrusted websites or even cause unwanted downloads and installations. Remove any unwanted, suspicious applications (extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins) that are installed on the browser.
The same should be applied to programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
