How to remove apps designed to open alondondon.xyz and others
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is alondondon[.]xyz?
alondondon[.]xyz is similar to securegate[.]xyz, press-allow-browser2[.]com, tiktok-fun[.]com, and many other websites designed to promote untrusted websites or load dubious content.
Typically, users do not visit these web pages intentionally - browsers open them when users click deceptive ads, visit other untrusted pages, or have potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) installed on their browsers and/or computers.
When opened, websites such as alondondon[.]xyz load dubious content or open about two or three other web pages of this kind. The way they function depends on the geolocations of the visitors. Commonly, alondondon[.]xyz and similar sites demand permission to show notifications using 'clickbait' techniques.
This particular site suggests that visitors must click the "Allow" button if they want to continue browsing it. Typically, these websites show notifications containing deceptive advertisements, links to bogus websites, and other dubious content. Therefore, never allow these sites to show notifications.
Note that PUAs often collect browsing-related information and other details, and display advertisements. Typically, they target details such as entered search queries, addresses of visited pages, geolocations, IP addresses, and so on, however, some can record personal, sensitive information.
The information could be sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or misused in other ways. Therefore, such apps could cause problems relating to privacy, browsing safety, etc. It is possible that some users may even become victims of identity theft.
PUAs also feed users with various coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups and other ads that can open dubious pages and/or execute scripts designed to cause download/installation of unwanted apps. In summary, PUAs should not be downloaded or installed, and sites such as alondondon[.]xyz should never be trusted.

PUAs simply generate revenue for the developers and are useless to regular users. They are often advertised as useful and legitimate, and supposedly improve the browsing experience, include various features, and are useful in other ways. Note that users mostly download and install PUAs inadvertently.
How did adware install on my computer?
Potentially unwanted applications are distributed by including them into the download/installation set-ups of other programs. This distribution method is known as "bundling". Usually, offers to download or install rogue apps are mentioned in "Advanced", "Custom", "Manual" or other settings of the set-ups.
Many users give PUAs permission to be downloaded and installed when they leave these settings unchanged. People are also tricked into unintentional downloads and installations when they click advertisements that run certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Files and programs should be downloaded only from official websites and via direct links - other sources could be used to distribute unwanted applications. Some examples of such sources/tools are third party downloaders, installers, unofficial websites, free file hosting pages and Peer-to-Peer networks (torrent clients, eMule, etc.).
Check all "Advanced" and "Custom" settings and decline offers of potentially unwanted apps. Do not click intrusive ads, especially if they are displayed on untrusted websites, since they can open other pages of this kind or execute scripts that download/install unwanted apps.
Remove all unwanted, suspicious apps (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) installed on the browser and software of this kind installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
