How to remove redirects to and from click-to-watch.live
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is click-to-watch[.]live?
click-to-watch[.]live is a rogue website sharing many similarities with bestdealfor21.life, cvazirouse.com, esmo.pro, mediamodern.biz and thousands of others. When accessed, these sites present visitors with dubious content and/or redirect them to other dubious/malicious web pages.
Few users enter these web pages intentionally - most are redirected to them by intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs). These apps do not need express permission to be installed onto devices. PUAs cause redirects, deliver intrusive ad campaigns and collect browsing-related information.
The geolocation is the determining factor of the click-to-watch[.]live website's behavior. It learns this information by extracting it from visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. I.e., whether users are redirected elsewhere, or are presented with suspect material, depends on their geolocations.
Additionally, click-to-watch[.]live uses deceptive tactics to trick visitors into consenting to browser notifications. Specifically, the website claims that to watch fake video presented in the page, users must click "Allow". If this is done, notifications are enabled and click-to-watch[.]live is able to begin running intrusive ad campaigns.
As well as being an annoyance, these advertisements pose certain threats. When clicked, the ads redirect to various untrusted/malicious web pages, and some can even execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install rogue software (e.g. PUAs).
These unwanted applications can force-open dangerous sites. They can also run intrusive advertisement campaigns. Furthermore, most PUAs have data tracking capabilities. They can record browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather personal information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details).
The gathered data is usually shared with and/or sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals). The presence of this software on devices can result in system infections, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. To ensure device and user safety, remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

Symptoms | Seeing advertisements not originating from the sites you are browsing. Intrusive pop-up ads. Decreased Internet browsing speed. |
Distribution Methods | Deceptive pop-up ads, potentially unwanted applications (adware). |

Malware Removal (Windows) | To eliminate possible malware infections, scan your computer with legitimate antivirus software. Our security researchers recommend using Combo Cleaner. |
PUAs typically seem legitimate and useful. These applications offer various "useful" functionalities, however, the advertised features are seldom operational and, even if they do work, it is not as promised. The sole purpose of PUAs is to generate revenue for the developers.
Rather than delivering any real value, PUAs cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns and track private information.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs can be downloaded/installed together with other programs. "Bundling" is the term used to define this deceptive marketing methods of packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions.
Rushing through download/installation processes (e.g. skimming or ignoring terms, skipping steps, using pre-set options, etc.) increases the risk of unintentionally allowing bundled content into devices.
Some PUAs have "official" download web pages. Intrusive ads can infiltrate these applications into systems as well. Once clicked, they can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' permission.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to research all software prior to download/installation or purchase. Use only official and verified download channels. Untrusted sources such as unofficial and free file-hosting websites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders commonly offer deceptive and bundled content.
When downloading/installing, read the terms, explore all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features, and so on. Intrusive ads may seem normal and harmless, however, they can redirect to highly dubious sites (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.).
If you experience advertisements/redirects of this kind, check the system and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
