How to stop redirects to and from supergamessearch.com

What is supergamessearch.com?
Sharing many similarities with pdfsearchos.com, cosappzsearch.online, pdfsearchhouse.com and countless others, supergamessearch.com is a fake search engine. These bogus web search engines are typically promoted by browser hijackers. Software classified as such modifies browser settings to promote search engines, including supergamessearch.com.
Additionally, browser hijackers tend to monitor users' browsing activity and collect sensitive information extracted from it. Due to the dubious methods used to proliferate browser hijackers, they are classified as Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs).
Browser hijackers target popular browsers with large user bases such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and others. This rogue software operates by assigning the addresses of fake search engines as the homepage, default search engine and new tab/window URLs.
Therefore, with this software installed, each search query typed into the URL bar and each new tab/window opened redirects to the address of the bogus search engine. Browser hijackers promoting supergamessearch.com also have this behavior.
Most fake search engines are unable to generate unique results, and so they redirect to (or cause redirect chains ending with) genuine search engines. In the case of supergamessearch.com, it likewise cannot provide unique results and simply redirects to Yahoo (search.yahoo.com).
Furthermore, browser hijackers often restrict or deny access to the hijacked browser settings, and can even reset any changes made. To recover an affected browser, the hijacker software must be removed. As mentioned, most browser hijackers have data tracking capabilities.
They monitor browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and collect vulnerable information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). The gathered data usually contains personally identifiable information. The developers share this data with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for profit.
In summary, the presence of data-tracking content on systems can lead to financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. To ensure device integrity and user safety, remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

Plenty O' Apps, Easy Forms, Search Tab and Translations Instant are some examples of other browser hijackers. They may seem legitimate and harmless, and users are often tempted into download/installation with offers of "useful" functionalities, however, the features promised are rarely operational.
In fact, this is typical of most PUAs. The only purpose of these unwanted applications is to generate revenue. PUAs hijack browsers, cause redirects, run intrusive advertisement campaigns and gather private data.
How did supergamessearch.com install on my computer?
PUAs are often downloaded/installed together with other products. "Bundling" is the term used to define this deceptive marketing method of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions.
By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, etc.), many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into the device. Some PUAs have "official" promotional web pages from which they can be downloaded.
Intrusive advertisements can infiltrate these applications into systems as well. When clicked, they can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' permission.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are strongly advised to research all products before download/installation. All downloads should be performed from official and verified sources. Unofficial and free file-hosting websites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders can offer deceptive or bundled content and are untrusted.
When downloading/installing, read the terms, explore all available options, use the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings and opt-put from supplementary apps, tools, features and so on. It is also important to exercise caution when browsing.
Intrusive ads typically seem legitimate and harmless, however, they can redirect to dubious sites (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.). If you encounter ads/redirects of this kind, check the system and immediately eliminate all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins.
If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
