How to uninstall TaskProduct from your computer
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is TaskProduct?
TaskProduct is adware that displays various unwanted advertisements, collects sensitive information and promotes the Safe Finder web page by opening it through akamaihd.net. Apps of this type are categorized as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), since users often download and install them unintentionally.
The TaskProduct app can read sensitive information from websites such as passwords, credit card details, telephone numbers and other sensitive information. Developers can misuse this information to steal identities and accounts, make fraudulent purchases and transactions, and sell the data to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals).
Therefore, TaskProduct's might become victims of identity theft, lose access to various accounts, suffer monetary loss, experience problems relating to online privacy, browsing safety, and other issues. Commonly, apps such as TaskProduct also gather browsing data.
For example, IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, and addresses of visited pages. Since TaskProduct is classified as adware, it feeds people with coupons, banners, surveys, pop-up ads and other ads. When clicked, these tend to open untrusted web pages or they cause download/installation of unwanted, potentially malicious applications.
Therefore, TaskProduct should never be downloaded or installed. If it already is installed, remove it from the browser and computer immediately.

TaskProduct is similar to a number of other apps of this type including, for example, TopicFirst, InteractivePremium and ServiceBuilder. In most cases, adware generates revenue for developers by serving ads and/or gathering data. The software is advertised legitimate and useful, however, it does not operate as promised and can cause serious problems.
How did TaskProduct install on my computer?
Adware and other PUAs are installed through clicked deceptive advertisements or when software developers distribute them using the "bundling" method. This method is used to trick people into inadvertently downloading and/or installing unwanted apps together with other software that they wish to acquire.
To achieve this, rogue developers include PUAs into the download/installation set-ups of other programs, within the "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings. Users who download and install programs without checking and changing these settings often allow PUAs to infiltrate.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Files and programs should be downloaded from official websites and through direct links. Third party downloaders and installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., torrent clients, eMule), unofficial websites, and other similar channels/tools are often used to distribute unwanted, malicious applications. For this reason, they should be avoided.
Check all download and installation settings such as "Custom" and "Advanced" and decline offers to download or install unwanted software before completing the process. Do not click intrusive advertisements that appear on dubious, untrusted websites, since they can open untrusted, malicious pages or cause unwanted downloads/installations.
Remove any suspicious, unwanted extensions, add-ons and plug-ins installed on the browser and/or operating system. If your computer is already infected with TaskProduct, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
