How to uninstall MessengerHub adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is MessengerHub?
MessengerHub is advertised as an instant messaging application, which includes a video chat feature. After installation, however, it starts to serve various advertisements. Therefore, MessengerHub is classified as adware.
Note that users often download and install adware accidentally and, therefore, programs of this type are also known as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). Be aware that adware-type programs often collect user-system information.
In most cases, applications such as MessengerHub feed people with coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and other advertisements. If clicked, they can open various untrusted web pages. Adware-type apps often serve ads designed to run certain scripts - these cause download/installation of unwanted, potentially malicious software.
Furthermore, it is likely that MessengerHub will collect data relating to users' browsing habits. Generally, these apps target IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited websites and other browsing data, however, there is a possibility that installed adware might also collect personal, sensitive details.
The data is sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue in other ways. Users who have MessengerHub or other adware installed on browsers and/or operating systems risk becoming victims of identity theft, experiencing problems relating to browsing safety, online privacy, and other issues.
Therefore, you are advised to uninstall all adware immediately.

MessengerDeck, MessengerTime and MessengerNow are some examples of other adware-type applications that are very similar or even identical to MessengerHub. Most of these programs are designed to generate revenue for the developers by serving advertisements. Many track information.
This software can cause serious problems and, therefore, you are advised to remove all adware (and other PUAs) from the browser and computer.
How did adware install on my computer?
Commonly, adware is distributed by including it into the download/installation set-ups of other programs. This PUA distribution method is called "bundling". Typically, offers to download and/or install apps such as MessengerHub can be found in settings such as "Custom", "Advanced", and "Manual".
Many users fail to check and change the settings, thereby allowing PUAs to infiltrate together with the required software. Sometimes unwanted downloads and installations are caused by clicking deceptive ads that execute certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Third party downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (such as torrent clients, eMule, etc.), unofficial pages and other sources, channels should not be used to download or install software or files. Use official pages and direct links.
Check all settings ("Custom", "Advanced", and "Manual") and decline any offers to download or install PUAs before completing the process. Do not click intrusive advertisements that appear on dubious web pages, since they can open dubious websites or cause download/installation of PUAs.
Remove any unknown, suspicious, plug-ins, add-ons, and extensions already installed on the browser, and programs of this kind installed on the operating system immediately. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
