How to uninstall SelectionDaily from browsers and computers
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is SelectionDaily?
SelectionDaily is a potentially unwanted application (PUA) classified as adware. Apps of this type feed people with various advertisements. This particular app also promotes the Safe Finder site by opening it via akamaihd.net and collects private, sensitive information. Typically, users download and install adware (and other PUAs) inadvertently.
After installation, SelectionDaily starts to serve coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups and other intrusive advertisements. In most cases, these ads open untrusted websites or execute scripts designed to download and install other unwanted software. In any case, it is not safe to click ads that appear due to installed adware.
Furthermore, adware-type apps can gather browsing-related details (such as IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited pages, and other browsing data). Research shows that SelectionDaily can access sensitive information such as credit card details, passwords, telephone numbers and other personal information.
This data could be sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) and misused to make fraudulent transactions and purchases, steal accounts, identities, etc.
Therefore, SelectionDaily's users might become victims of identity theft, experience problems relating to online privacy, browsing safety, suffer monetary loss, and other issues. If this app is installed on the browser or operating system, remove it immediately - this applies to all other apps similar SelectionDaily.

In fact, these apps do not function as advertised. Typically, adware serves intrusive ads and gathers information. In summary, adware is useless and can cause serious problems. Never trust these rogue apps.
How did SelectionDaily install on my computer?
In most cases, PUAs are downloaded and installed through clicked deceptive advertisements, which execute certain scripts, or when developers distribute them using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". They use bundling to trick people into downloading and installing PUAs together with regular software.
PUAs are included into the download/installation set-ups as 'additional offers', which can be found in "Advanced", "Custom and other similar settings. Many users leave these settings unchecked and unchanged, thereby allowing PUAs to be downloaded and installed together with additional programs included in the set-ups.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
All software and files should be downloaded from official websites and via direct links. Channels such as Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., torrent clients, eMule), unofficial pages, third party downloaders, installers, etc., should not be used, since they commonly distribute PUAs and malicious programs.
Check "Custom", "Advanced" and other settings of the download or installation setups and decline offers to download or install unwanted software before completing the process. Do not click advertisements that are shown on dubious web pages, since they can open untrusted websites or download/install unwanted, potentially malicious software.
Remove all unwanted, suspicious extensions, add-ons and plug-ins that are installed on the browser. Also remove software of this kind that is installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with SelectionDaily, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
