How to uninstall Oniria adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Oniria?
Oniria is a potentially unwanted application (PUA) categorized as adware. People often download and install applications of this type inadvertently. When installed, adware-type apps feed users with various intrusive advertisements and gather data.
Adware-type applications such as Oniria display various advertisements. For example, coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and others. They often conceal underlying content of opened web pages. When clicked, they can redirect users to dubious websites or download and install unwanted software by executing certain scripts.
Furthermore, many adware-type applications operate as information tracking tools. They collect browsing data such as IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited pages, and so on. They might also record sensitive, personal details.
Developers generate revenue by selling the data to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it in other ways. Having adware installed on browsers and/or operating systems can lead to problems with privacy, browsing safety, and unwanted downloads/installations.
Stolen data might also be misused to steal users' identities. Therefore, uninstall adware (including Oniria) from the browser and operating system immediately.

More examples of adware-type applications are SearchPro Tools, InLog Browser and RunBooster. Most applications of this type feed users with intrusive advertisements and gather data. PUAs deliver no real value and simply put users at risk of various problems.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs are commonly distributed by including them into the download/installation set-ups of other (usually free) programs. This distribution method is called "bundling" and is used to trick people into downloading and installing PUAs with required programs.
Typically, information about additional downloads/installations can be found in settings such as "Manual", "Advanced", "Custom", and others. When people download and install software without checking and changing these settings, they agree with offers to download and install additional PUAs.
In some cases, unwanted downloads and installations can be caused by clicking deceptive advertisements that run certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to download all programs and files from official websites and via direct links. Other sources and tools such as third party downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g, torrent clients, eMule), unofficial pages, etc., are often used to promote unwanted apps.
Therefore, they should not be used to download or install software. Check "Advanced", "Custom" and other similar settings of the download and installation setup and decline offers to download or install additionally-included, unwanted applications. Intrusive ads that are shown on dubious dubious pages tend to open untrusted websites or cause downloads/installations.
Therefore, never click these ads. Remove any unknown, unwanted/suspicious extensions, plug-ins and add-ons installed on the browser. Also remove programs of this kind installed on the operating system immediately. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
