Stop redirects to and from terko.pro

What is terko[.]pro?
Virtually identical to pushbesttools.com, androidrecaptcha.info, real-news.net and thousands of others, terko[.]pro is a rogue website. Visitors to it are presented with dubious content and/or redirected to other untrustworthy, even malicious web pages. These websites are rarely accessed intentionally.
Most users are redirected to terko[.]pro by intrusive ads or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already present on the system. Note that these apps do not require express permission to infiltrate devices. Following successful installation, PUAs cause redirects, run intrusive advertisement campaigns and monitor users' browsing habits.
Once entered, terko[.]pro first checks visitors' IP addresses to learn their geolocations. This information is key in determining its further course of action. Depending on their geolocations, users are redirected elsewhere or presented with highly dubious material.
Additionally, this web page uses browser notifications, the consent option to which is hidden within 'clickbait' ("Press Allow to confirm I'm not a robot / Press Allow to verify, that you are not a robot"). If notifications are allowed, terko[.]pro then begins running intrusive ad campaigns.
The resultant ads deliver pop-ups, coupons, banners, etc., which significantly diminish the browsing experience by limiting browsing speed and overlaying website content. More than just a nuisance, they are also a threat to device health and user safety.
When clicked, intrusive ads can redirect to untrustworthy, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious web pages. Some can even be triggered (by clicking) to execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install unwanted content (e.g. PUAs). These unwanted applications also generate redirects to similarly harmful websites and can deliver intrusive ads.
Most PUAs have data tracking capabilities, which they employ to record browsing activity (URLs visited, search queries typed, etc.) and collect users' personal details (IP addresses, geolocations and other data). This vulnerable information is then shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for profit.
In summary, PUAs can cause browser and system infiltration/infections, lead to financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. To protect device integrity and user safety, you are advised to remove all suspect applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

Symptoms | Seeing advertisements not originating from the sites you are browsing. Intrusive pop-up ads. Decreased internet browsing speed. |
Distribution Methods | Deceptive pop-up ads, potentially unwanted applications (adware). |
Damage | Decreased computer performance, browser tracking - privacy issues, possible additional malware infections. |
Malware Removal (Windows) | To eliminate possible malware infections, scan your computer with legitimate antivirus software. Our security researchers recommend using Combo Cleaner. |
PUAs often seem legitimate and tempt users into downloading/installing them with offers of "useful" functions. The advertised features rarely work as promised and, in most cases, are nonoperational. The only purpose of all unwanted content is to generate revenue for the developers.
Regular users receive no genuine value. PUAs force-open untrustworthy and malicious web pages, deliver intrusive ads and gather private data.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs are primarily spread via the download/install set-ups of other programs. This deceptive marketing technique of packing normal software with unwanted or malicious applications is called "bundling".
By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g. skipping steps and sections, using pre-set options, etc.), many users endanger systems with potential infiltration and infections. Some unwanted apps have "official" download sites as well. Clicking intrusive ads triggers them to execute scripts designed to automatically download/install PUAs, without users' consent.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Research all content, before downloading/installing. Use only official and verified download sources, as opposed to P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders. Download and installation processes should be approached with caution.
Read the terms, study all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and decline offers to download/install supplementary apps, tools, features, etc. Intrusive advertisements usually seem legitimate and harmless, however, they can generate redirects to rogue web pages (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling and so on).
If you encounter these ads/redirects, inspect the device and immediately remove all suspicious applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
