Remove ResultSync adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ResultSync?
Do not trust the ResultSync app (which is advertised as useful and legitimate) - it serves ads and does not operate as advertised. This application is categorized as adware and, in most cases, people do not download or install this software intentionally.
For this reason, apps such as ResultSync are classed as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). Furthermore, adware-type apps are often designed to collect information relating to users' browsing habits.
When installed, adware-type applications display intrusive ads, such as coupons, banners, pop-ups, surveys, etc. These conceal underlying content of opened websites and redirect people who click them to other untrustworthy sites. The ads sometimes run scripts that cause download/installation of unwanted applications.
Therefore, never click ads displayed by adware. Note that adware is a type of software that is often designed to collect information relating to the browsing habits of users. They gather mostly browsing data, such as IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited websites, and so on.
They might also record sensitive, confidential information. In any case, the developers usually sell the details to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse them to generate revenue. These actions can lead to problems with browsing safety, online privacy, and some users might end up becoming victims of identity theft.
These are the main reasons why you should uninstall ResultSync and other adware immediately.

Other examples of adware-type apps similar to ResultSync include LogicalSearch, DiscoveryEngine and UltraModel. Typically, these apps do not function as advertised. They deliver no real value and, in most cases, display ads and collect information relating to users, which often causes various issues.
In summary, no adware should be trusted, especially if it was not installed intentionally.
How did ResultSync install on my computer?
People often download and install adware (and other PUAs) unintentionally when clicking deceptive advertisements or downloading and/or installing various programs. Developers commonly distribute PUAs using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling".
They include unwanted apps into the download/installation set-ups of various software (typically, free).
They present these apps as 'additional offers' and they can usually be found in settings of the set-ups such as "Custom" and "Advanced". Many people fail to check these settings and leave them unchanged, thereby allowing PUAs to be downloaded and installed though the setups of regular programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
All software (and files) should be downloaded from official websites, especially free content. Other sources/channels such as third party downloaders (and installers) unofficial websites, Peer-to-Peer networks (torrent clients, eMule) and so on, should not be trusted.
Dismiss any offers to download and/or install additional, unwanted software that are included in set-ups, before completing the process. This can be done simply by checking and changing "Advanced", "Custom" and other similar settings available in the set-ups of your programs.
Do not click intrusive advertisements, especially if they are displayed on dubious websites (i.e., pages relating to gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on). These ads usually redirect people to dubious or even malicious websites. They might also cause unwanted downloads and installations.
If the browser causes unwanted redirects and/or displays ads, it is very likely that adware is already installed. In such cases, remove all unwanted, unknown extensions, plug-ins and add-ons from the browser, and programs of this kind from the operating system.
If your computer is already infected with ResultSync, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
