Prevent redirects to and from dstatutorsher.info

Also Known As: dstatutorsher.info pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is dstatutorsher[.]info?

dstatutorsher[.]info is a rogue site, which is similar to hernclinicsfun.infoeadingenered.procostsimpleplay.com, and countless others. Visitors to this web page are presented with dubious and even harmful content, and they can also be redirected to other untrustworthy or malicious pages.

Few users enter these websites intentionally - most are redirected by intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already infiltrated into the system. These applications do not need explicit user permission to be installed onto devices. PUAs cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns, and track information relating to users' browsing activity.

dstatutorsher[.]info pop-up redirects

Once opened, dstatutorsher[.]info first checks visitors' IP addresses to learn their geolocations. This determines the site's further course of action. Depending on their geolocations, users are redirected elsewhere or fed dubious material. Furthermore, dstatutorsher[.]info requests browser notifications to be enabled.

It attempts to trick users into doing so by claiming that, to begin downloading, they need to provide consent to notifications. If this is granted, dstatutorsher[.]info begins running intrusive advertisement campaigns. When clicked, the ads redirect to various dangerous web pages and some can even execute scripts designed to download/install PUAs without users' permission.

As mentioned, unwanted apps can also cause similar redirects and deliver intrusive ad campaigns. They employ various tools to enable third party graphical content to be displayed on any site. Therefore, the ads they deliver (pop-ups, banners, coupons, surveys, etc.) significantly diminish the browsing experience.

These ads limit browsing speed and site visibility (by overlaying web page content) and carry the previously listed risks. PUAs commonly have data tracking capabilities, which they employ to record users' browsing habits (URLs visited, search queries typed, etc.) and collect personal information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details).

This private data can be shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to generate revenue by misusing it. To summarize, PUAs can cause browser/system infiltration and infections and lead to financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. Therefore, remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

PUAs are released by the thousand and most share certain common qualities. While they may seem legitimate and offer "useful" features, this is merely to lure users into downloading/installing them.

The advertised functions rarely operate as advertised, and are often nonoperational. Financial gain for the developers is the only purpose of PUAs. They are not designed for users' convenience and have no genuine value for them. Rather than delivering any real value, unwanted apps generate redirects to dubious/malicious pages, run intrusive ad campaigns, and gather sensitive data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs commonly proliferate via the download/install set-ups of other programs. This deceptive marketing tactic of packing regular software with unwanted or malicious content is called "bundling".

Rushing download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps, using pre-set options, etc.) endanger systems with potential infiltration and infections. Once clicked, intrusive ads can execute scripts to stealthily download/install PUAs.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

Research all content and only download it from official and verified download channels. P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, Gnutella, eMule, etc.), free file-hosting sites and other third party downloaders are untrustworthy and should be avoided. Download and installation processes should be approached with caution.

Read the terms, explore all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out of any supplementary apps, tools, features, etc. Intrusive ads usually seem normal and harmless, however, they can redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating and so on).

If you experience nuisance redirects and advertisements, inspect the device and immediately remove all suspect applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
