What is search.pizgetz.com?
search.pizgetz.com is one of many fake search engines that supposedly provide fast and accurate results. Other examples of search engines of this type include home.specialtab.com, search.turdeland2.com, and search.newsflashapp.com.
Typically, they are promoted by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) called browser hijackers, which change browser settings. Furthermore, most of these apps and fake search engines collect browsing-related data.
Most browser hijackers are compatible with/can be installed on Safari, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. They promote fake search engines such as search.pizgetz.com by changing settings, including the address of the homepage, default search engine, and new tab.
Therefore, a specific address (in this case, search.pizgetz.com) is opened when the user of a hijacked browser opens a new window, tab or enters a search query into the URL bar. Furthermore, apps of this type are installed with other apps (add-ons, plug-ins or extensions) called "helper" objects.
These prevent users from undoing or changing the aforementioned settings by immediately reassigning them after each attempt to do so. In summary, it is impossible to restore previous settings without uninstalling the app (browser hijacker).
As mentioned, browser hijackers and fake search engines gather data including, for example, IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited pages, etc. In some cases, they gather sensitive information as well. Developers share the data with third parties who often misuse it to generate revenue.
Note that details could be shared with cyber criminals. To avoid any problems (relating to privacy, browsing safety or even identity theft), we recommend that you uninstall all browser hijackers immediately. Be aware that search.pizgetz.com is a fake search engine, since it provides no unique, individual results.
It simply delivers results generated by Yahoo (it redirects users to search.yahoo.com).

Most fake search engines and browser hijackers are useless and do not function as advertised. On the contrary, they cause various problems and are designed only to help developers to generate revenue. For these reasons, we strongly advise against use apps of this type or dubious, fake search engines.
How did search.pizgetz.com install on my computer?
Generally, people download and/or install unwanted apps by clicking intrusive, deceptive advertisements that execute certain scripts, or together with other, regular software. Developers distribute PUAs by including them in download or installation set-ups of software (often freeware).
Typically, offers to download and/or install potentially unwanted applications are presented in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings of the download/installation set-ups. Many people leave the settings unchanged, thereby granting permission for PUAs to be downloaded and installed through the setups of regular programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Software should not be downloaded from unofficial websites, through Peer-to-Peer networks such as torrent clients, eMule, third party downloaders, and so on. The safest way to download is via direct links and official websites. No installations should be performed using third party installers.
Check "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings, and dismiss any offers to download or install unwanted apps. Avoid clicking ads, especially those displayed on dubious websites. When clicked, they can redirect people to untrustworthy websites or cause unwanted downloads and installations.
Browsers often display ads and/or cause unwanted redirects due to unwanted apps that are installed on browsers or operating systems.
This can be stopped by removing all unwanted, suspicious apps (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) from the browser and programs of this kind from the operating system. If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate them.
