Uninstall MightyBrowser from the browser and operating system
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is MightyBrowser?
According to developers of the MightyBrowser application, this software supposedly help users to browse and search. In fact, MightyBrowser is a potentially unwanted application (PUA) categorized as adware. People do not generally download or install apps of this type intentionally - they are often tricked.
Note that adware-type apps deliver intrusive advertisements and are often designed to gather various information relating to users.
Applications such as MightyBrowser usually serve intrusive ads that conceal underlying content of visited websites. If clicked, the ads redirect users to untrustworthy websites or even execute scripts that download and/or install unwanted software. Some examples of ads that most adware-type applications display include various pop-ups, banners, coupons, surveys, etc.
Furthermore, research shows that MightyBrowser can access (collect) information such as passwords, credit card details, telephone numbers and other data that is saved on browsers. PUAs are usually designed to gather other, browsing-related details.
For example, users' IP addresses, entered search queries, addresses of visited web pages, geolocations, and so on.
Typically, adware developers misuse the information to generate revenue and share it with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals). This can lead to problems such as identity theft, issues relating to browsing safety, privacy, and so on. For this reason, uninstall MightyBrowser and all other adware immediately.

Some other adware-type apps that are very similar to MightyBrowser include ProdigySearch, ExtraList, and OutputData. These are just a number of examples from many more.
Typically, adware developers advertise this software as useful, legitimate, etc. In this case, they offer an enhanced browsing experience. Unfortunately, adware-type apps (and most other PUAs) do not deliver any of the features promised. They are designed only to help the developers to generate revenue.
How did MightyBrowser install on my computer?
Few people download and install adware or other PUAs intentionally. In most cases, they download and/or install them by clicking intrusive advertisements or through the set-ups of various software.
To trick people into downloading and/or installing unwanted apps with regular software, developers include PUAs into the download or installation set-ups and hide related information in "Custom", "Manual", "Advanced" and other settings.
This distribution method is called "bundling", however, people install and/or download this unwanted software only when they leave all of the aforementioned settings unchecked and unchanged.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Avoid clicking intrusive ads, especially if they are displayed on dubious web pages. For example, those relating to adult dating, pornography, gambling, and so on. These ads often lead to deceptive, potentially malicious websites or cause unwanted downloads/installations.
Furthermore, programs should not be downloaded or installed using third party downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (such as torrent clients, eMule, etc.), unofficial websites, and so on. Download software only from official, trustworthy websites and via direct download links.
Download and installation set-ups often contain settings such as "Custom", "Advanced". Dismiss any offers to download or install unwanted software in these settings before completing download or installation. If you believe that adware or a PUA is already installed, remove all suspicious extensions, add-ons, and/or plug-ins that are installed on the browser.
Also, remove any unwanted software of this kind installed on the operating system immediately. If your computer is already infected with MightyBrowser, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
