Stop redirects to and from ronmeketnerep.pro

Also Known As: ronmeketnerep.pro pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is ronmeketnerep[.]pro?

ronmeketnerep[.]pro is a rogue website sharing many similarities with highertpushs.comdernevious.comnoorotin.biz, and countless others. It operates by generating redirects to other untrustworthy/malicious sites and presents dubious content for user consumption.

Most visitors to ronmeketnerep[.]pro arrive at it unintentionally - they are redirected by intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already present on the device. Note that these apps do no need explicit permission to infiltrate systems. PUAs generate redirects, deliver intrusive ad campaigns, and monitor users' browsing activity.

ronmeketnerep[.]pro pop-up redirects

The geolocation is key in determining the ronmeketnerep[.]pro course of action. It learns this data by checking visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. Depending on the users' geolocations, it redirects them elsewhere and/or feeds them with dubious content.

This web page also uses browser notifications, the consent option to which it disguises within 'clickbait' (e.g. "Please tap the Allow button to continue", "Click here to verify that you are not a robot", "Press 'Allow' to view newest videos/movies/TV", etc.). If consent is given, ronmeketnerep[.]pro begins running intrusive advertisement campaigns.

The ads cause redirects to harmful websites and can execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install PUAs. As mentioned, unwanted applications are capable of generating similar redirects and run ad campaigns.

By implementing various tools, they enable third party graphical content to be displayed on any site, thereby delivering intrusive advertisements (limiting browsing performance and overlaying page content), which diminishes the browsing experience. Additionally, some PUAs have data tracking capabilities.

They monitor browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather personal information (IP addresses, geolocations, and other details). This sensitive data is then shared with third parties (usually, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for financial gain.

Therefore, PUAs can cause browser and system infiltration/infections and lead to severe privacy issues (even identity theft). To protect device integrity and user safety, remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

PUAs are released by the thousand and most share certain traits. They can seem legitimate and often tempt users to install by offering "useful" features. In most cases, these features are nonoperational or do not work as advertised. The only purpose of these unwanted apps is to generate revenue for their developers, whilst regular users receive no value.

PUAs cause redirects to sale-oriented, untrustworthy and malicious web pages, deliver intrusive ad campaigns, and track vulnerable data.

How did adware install on my computer?

Some PUAs have "official" websites from which they can often be downloaded free of charge, however, they can also be installed together with other software. This deceptive marketing method of packing normal software with unwanted or malicious content is called "bundling".

By rushing through the download/installation processes (ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using pre-set options, etc.), many users risk allowing bundled programs onto their systems. Intrusive ads also proliferate PUAs. Once clicked, they can be triggered to execute scripts that download/install these applications without users' permission.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

Research programs and content to verify its legitimacy, before downloading/installing. Only official and verified download sources should be used. Do not use Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, free file-hosting websites, third party downloaders, or similar channels - these are dubious and likely to offer deceptive or bundled software.

Download/Installation processes should be treated with caution. Read the terms, explore all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out of downloading/installing additional apps, tools, features, etc. Intrusive ads typically seem normal and innocuous, however, they often redirect to rogue web pages (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.).

If you encounter ads/redirects of this type, check the device and immediately remove all suspect applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
