What is notabenemessage[.]com?
leadnote.me, joophesh.com, and beeaimaid.com are just some examples of rogue sites similar to notabenemessage[.]com. This website operates by delivering dubious content and redirecting visitors to other untrustworthy/malicious sites.
Most users access notabenemessage[.]com through redirects caused by intrusive ads or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already present on the system. These apps do not require explicit permission to infiltrate devices. They also generate redirects, run ad campaigns, and record browsing activity.
The geolocation determines the actions of notabenemessage[.]com. It learns this information by checking the visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. Depending on the geolocations, it redirects users elsewhere and/or feeds them with dubious content.
Note that notabenemessage[.]com uses browser notifications and hides the consent option for them within 'clickbait' (e.g. "Click 'Allow' To Download"). If consent is given, notabenemessage[.]com begins running intrusive advertisement campaigns. The resultant ads are a nuisance and a threat.
They redirect to various untrustworthy and malicious websites, and some can also execute scripts to stealthily download/install PUAs. As mentioned, unwanted applications also cause redirects to likewise dangerous sites and deliver intrusive ads (e.g. pop-ups, banners, surveys, coupons, etc.).
By implementing various tools, PUAs present ads, which can significantly diminish the browsing experience (limit browsing performance and web page visibility). Additionally, these rogue apps have data tracking abilities.
They monitor browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather users' personal information (IP addresses, geolocations, and other private details). The data is then passed on to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to generate revenue by misusing it.
Therefore, the presence of data tracking content on systems can lead to severe privacy issues, financial loss, and even identity theft. To ensure device and user safety, remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately.

There are countless PUAs available, most of which share many similarities. They often seem legitimate and offer "useful" features, however, these rarely work as advertised (if they are operational at all). The only purpose of unwanted files and apps is to generate revenue for the developers, whilst regular users receive no real value.
PUAs simply cause redirects, deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collect sensitive information.
How did adware install on my computer?
The most common mode of PUA proliferation is via download/install set-ups of other software. The deceptive marketing method of packing unwanted or malicious software with regular programs is called "bundling". The method is widely used by PUA developers and is often successful in proliferating their malicious products.
Furthermore, by rushing download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, using pre-set options, skipping steps and sections, etc.), many users endanger their devices with potential infiltration and infections. Some PUAs have "official" promotional websites, on which they can typically be downloaded free of charge.
Intrusive advertisements are also known to spread unwanted apps. When clicked, they can execute scripts designed to make these downloads/installs without users' permission.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Use only official and verified download channels (preferably, direct downloads). Peer-to-Peer sharing networks (e.g. BitTorrent, Gnutella, eMule, etc.), unofficial and free file-hosting websites, third party downloaders, and similar sources are untrustworthy and should not be used.
These channels can offer deceptive and bundled content. Approach download and installation processes with caution. Read the terms, study possible options, use "Custom/Advanced" settings, and decline downloading/installing additional apps, tools, features, etc.
Intrusive advertisements usually seem normal and innocuous, however they often redirect to dubious sites (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling, and others). If you experience these ads/redirects, inspect the system and remove all suspect applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins.
If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
