Prevent redirects to svip-center.com

What is svip-center[.]com?
svip-center[.]com is is usually opened by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) that are installed on browsers or computers/operating systems.
Therefore, most people do not visit this site intentionally. When opened, this web page opens other dubious lottery sites (announcing users have supposedly been selected as winners of prizes), scam pages claiming that visitors' computers are infected with viruses, and so on.
Note that svip-center[.]com leads to other sites that are similar to "You Have Won A Google Gift". These usually attempt to trick people into providing various personal details (email addresses, telephone numbers, and other information) and clicking links that lead to other dubious pages.
In any case, none of these sites should be trusted or taken seriously. Furthermore, svip-center[.]com redirects visitors to scam pages that display notifications of 'detected viruses' and are used to advertise unwanted applications that supposedly remove them.
In this way, the websites are used to trick people into downloading and installing dubious software such as Cleanup My Mac and other similar apps. None of the sites opened through svip-center[.]com are legitimate or trustworthy. Typically, the sites are opened by PUAs that people download and install unintentionally.
After installation, they start to open dubious sites, collect data, and/or display intrusive advertisements. PUAs often gather details relating to users and their browsing habits, including IP addresses, geolocations, URLs of opened pages, entered search queries, etc.
People who create PUAs share the details with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) who misuse them to generate revenue. Furthermore, PUAs might also be designed to feed users with unwanted, deceptive advertisements (coupons, banners surveys, pop-ups, and so on).
If clicked, these open untrustworthy websites or run scripts that download (or even install) more PUAs. You are strongly advised to uninstall all PUAs immediately.

In summary, svip-center[.]com might lead to problems with privacy, unwanted downloads/installations, and other problems. The same applies to PUAs.
These are usually designed only to help developers collect data, increase traffic to dubious sites, and so on. In summary, they use PUAs to generate revenue. Typically, these apps are useless and simply cause problems without delivering any real value.
How did potentially unwanted applications install on my computer?
Typically PUAs are downloaded and/or installed via intrusive advertisements or together with other software. If clicked, some intrusive advertisements can execute scripts that start the download and/or installation processes of unwanted or even malicious apps.
To trick people into downloading and installing PUAs through other software, developers use another method called "bundling". They include PUAs into the set-ups of other software and hide related information in "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar parts.
People who download and install programs, without checking settings available in the set-ups, unintentionally allow PUAs to be downloaded and installed with regular software.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Do not download programs or files from unofficial, untrustworthy websites, through Peer-to-Peer networks such as torrent clients, eMule, third party downloaders, or other similar sources. Download from official websites and via direct download links. Check all "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar options when downloading/installing software, especially if it is free.
If set-ups contain offers to download or install unwanted apps, they should be dismissed. Do not trust ads displayed on dubious websites. For example, on those relating to gambling, adult dating, pornography, etc. When clicked, these can lead to dubious sites or cause unwanted downloads or installations.
If your browser opens unwanted sites or displays intrusive ads, remove all unwanted or suspicious extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins that are installed. If there are unwanted programs installed on the operating system, also remove them. If your computer is already infected with PUAs, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate them.
