Uninstall HelperEvents adware from MacOS

What is HelperEvents?
HelperEvents is an adware-type app designed to appear useful and legitimate. Its developers state that it enhances the browsing experience (provides fast, accurate search results, and so on), however, as with most adware, HelperEvents displays various advertisements and leads to dubious websites.
When a search query is entered, HelperEvents opens a dubious web address and then provides search results generated by Google. Most people download and install adware unintentionally/accidentally.
HelperEvents provides no real value and simply delivers search results generated by Google. Before doing so, however, it loads a dubious web address. In summary, this app generates traffic to one or more dubious websites. Note, Google is a legitimate search engine and has nothing to do with this adware.
Apps such as HelperEvents might also use results derived by other search engines such as Bing and Yahoo. Furthermore, when installed, adware-type software displays coupons, surveys, pop-ups, banners, and other ads that open potentially malicious pages or run scripts that cause unwanted downloads/installations.
Do not trust or click these ads. Another reason to uninstall adware is information tracking: these apps can gather information relating to users' browsing habits, such as IP addresses, URLs of visited sites, geolocations, entered search queries, and so on. Adware developers share the details with other parties who might be cyber criminals.
These third parties misuse private data to generate revenue. Thus, having adware installed can lead to problems with privacy, browsing safety, unwanted installations, or even identity theft. It is important to uninstall all adware immediately.

Typically, adware developers present their apps as legitimate, useful, and so on. Unfortunately, people who install adware on their computers or browsers experience various problems. PUA deliver no real value for regular users and are designed only to generate revenue for the developers.
Examples of other apps of this type are GeneralNetSearch, GlobalTechSearch, and Resourcetools.
How did HelperEvents install on my computer?
Two common ways to distribute unwanted apps are through deceptive ads or the set-ups of other programs. If clicked, some ads run scripts designed to download or even install unwanted software. These ads should be avoided. Developers often include unwanted apps into the set-ups of other (usually free) software.
They hide information about these extra offers in "Custom", "Advanced", and other settings of the set-ups and hope that people will not check or change them. People who leave default settings unchanged grant permission for PUAs to be downloaded and installed with other programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
All applications should be downloaded from official and trustworthy websites. Do not use third party software downloaders, installers, unofficial pages, or other similar sources. Download and install programs properly: if a setup contains "Custom", "Advanced", or other settings, check these and dismiss offers to download or install additional programs.
Intrusive ads (especially if displayed on dubious sites) often lead to potentially malicious pages or unwanted downloads/installations. Do not to click ads or trust pages of this kind.
If the browser opens untrustworthy websites or shows unwanted ads, remove all unwanted plug-ins, extensions, and add-ons that are installed on the browser and/or programs installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with HelperEvents, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
